Why inclusion is a very important part of your life?
I grew up in a very low-income family in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. We did not have much but we had a wonderful childhood and great family values. Growing up, I experienced myself the struggles that a person living with a disability have to face to be part of a society.
I believe that the creative talents of our community with disability deserve to be recognized. As President and CEO of the Pasadena-based Academy of Special Dreams. Our mission is to provide opportunities for adults of the special needs community to encourage, promote and showcase their artistic expressions. My mission of inclusion and Art brings opportunities to collaborate with other people internationally to make a more inclusive society regardless of disabilities.
What projects are you working currently?
The Academy of Special Dreams announced today WHEELS Up! an inclusive art exhibition featuring original works of art by a diverse group of 12 local and international artists who represent a wide spectrum of race, ethnicity, gender, age and abilities, truly reflective of the diversity of our society,” Said Michael Dergar, CEO. “This inclusive art exhibition underscores the principle that the struggle for social justice that has taken root in our country must incorporate everyone in society, including people living with disabilities.
“The creative talents of these young people deserve to be recognized,” said Michael Dergar, President and CEO of the Pasadena-based Academy of Special Dreams. “The Special Academy’s mission is to provide opportunities for adults of the special needs community to encourage, promote and showcase their artistic expressions. We give many thanks to The ALHAMBRA and the RATKOVICH COMPANY for their endless support.”

As an Inclusion Artivist and artist what is your biggest goal?
I believe in helping the most vulnerable communities! My mission includes educating the larger society that disability is a natural part of the human experience. I strive for the day that having a disability willing no way diminish the right of anyone to live independently, free of discrimination or bias, to enjoy self-determination, to pursue a meaningful career, to contribute to society, and to be part of a loving family.
That one day we all can be one, just be part, be united, be included as part of one inclusive society regardless of any disability.
My Dreams is what I am doing now. Creating a more inclusive society! My biggest vision to continue with my message of understanding that inclusion is not to tolerate, Inclusion is to treat people with equality and respect regardless of a disability.
Thank you so much again for sharing all of this with us. Before we go, can you share with our readers how they can connect with you, learn more or show support?
