Today we’d like to introduce you to Monty Montgomery and J Feather.
Kreashun is a collaboration of Monty Montgomery and J Feather, two distinctly different Artist’s. Monty and J bumped into each other in a North Park coffee shop in 2010 and within a short while brought Kreashun to life. The due focus on collaborative mural projects, Live painting, studio pieces and interior creations across the USA.
Recently the duo completed a 24ft Live mural at KAABOO music festival while exhibiting solo pieces, an interior mural which covers three walls at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row on Honky Tonk Row in the heart of Nashville, TN, and is currently working on three unannounced projects in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego, California. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Kreashun has honestly been an awesome and interesting Journey! J and I are uniquely different as individuals which carry over and creates so many interesting directions in our collaborative works as Kreashun. We have bumps along the way but they pretty much every single time turn into an understanding of each others vision and then flourish as a project. It’s the listening to each other as business partners and friends that allows us to joke around, have a great time creating and both grow as artists. When it comes down to it, we truly enjoy and appreciate each other’s thoughts and that allows us to bring very interesting works of art to life.
Kreashun – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Kreashun strives to create art that speaks to an audience in very different ways. We thrive on meeting with a client, taking in their vision but then expanding on that in our own funky, unique way. Through the process, the client truly becomes an integral part of the collaboration; the clients and folks we meet along the way become friends and a part of the path. Kreashun is an organic experience which allows everyone to dare, to push what you thought you wanted to a whole different level and to understand that this could be what makes the final artwork more than you imagined; it’s teamwork, everyone contributes!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
The success of Kreashun differs vastly for every single project. Jason and I care very much about the interactions with each client and how the project creates itself along the way. We focus on the success of one piece at a time which means that every color choice or single line direction could take us closer to success or away from it. Success is being contented with the work you create and the feeling you get when you see the positive vibes in the client’s eyes. By focusing on the perfection of one project at a time we hope to create a unique voice and vision for our work that people will universally respond to.
