Meet Kevin White, Nancy, and Eric Jayson of K-Dub’s Beach Rentals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin White, Nancy and Eric Jayson.

Eric and Nancy have lived in San Diego since the late 90’s and have both been avid beach goers since day 1. When Nancy’s brother  Kevin moved out to San Diego last year looking to start school and a new career path, a lengthy brainstorming session began for a business venture. One day after a long day at the beach, one of them said to the other, “wouldn’t it be great to not have to carry all this stuff to and from the beach?”…and K-Dub’s Beach Rentals was born. After much time and effort, they now have a successful rental business that provides a unique service to the local beach community and visitors.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not sure what we were thinking when we thought it was a good idea to launch a beach gear delivery service in the middle of winter, we had a very slow first few months. I think our first month we totaled $9 in revenue. It wasn’t until Spring Break that we finally started to see some solid business.

Getting the word out and ranking high on Google searches has been our biggest obstacle.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about K-Dub’s Beach Rentals – what should we know?
We offer a unique service to the beach communities and welcomed out of town guests by delivering surfboards, beach cruisers, sunshades, coolers and more directly to you at the beach, bay, rental property or wherever you like in OB, Mission Beach or PB. K-Dub’s will bring your gear to you and pick it all up when you’re done. K-Dub’s prides itself on customer experience, we strive to make your beach day enjoyable and memorable without the hassle of lugging gear to and from your location. Kevin (K-Dub) has gone above and beyond and succeeded in making us stand out with his exceptional customer service. We offer a convenient stress-free service at prices lower than the store-front rental shops.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
K-Dub’s wouldn’t be successful if it wasn’t for the hard work and customer service of Kevin White aka K-Dub. Additionally, all of the business development has been done with help of family and friends. K-Dub’s cousin Kirk Berryman provides website hosting and support. Shelly Foley, a local OB accountant provided financial planning and accounting services. Dana Walikis, a former OB resident and CA attorney reviewed our liability forms and provided legal advice.

And many more friends, family and customers have provided more referrals than we can count. We owe a lot of thanks to the local business community as well for allowing us to display our brochures. A special thanks to OB Hostel (USA Hostels) for giving us a chance to delight their guests with our services consistently throughout our first year of business, especially through our first slow winter.
