Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathaniel Allenby, Founder of Cirque Quirk and Allenby Art.
His story is as unique and amazing as the companies he created. He has performed for international audiences upwards of 40,000 live and millions on TV, yet comes from humble beginnings. While growing up on a family farm outside of Portland Oregon, Nathaniel excelled in sports, academics and the Boy Scouts. He succeeded in becoming a state champion in scholastic and athletic arenas, and accomplished the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. He met his best friend at a Lasallian school; who dramatically improved his life by buying him a bicycle and a one-way ticket to Europe after college.
Beginning in 2006 they pedaled around the world together, up to 155 miles a day, carrying everything they owned. This continued for 6 years, through 10 countries and 30 states, totaling over 28,000 miles. All the while, his friend taught him to juggle. 14 years and over 7,000 hours of practice later, Nathaniel is a professional entertainer juggling up to 8 balls and 5 clubs. After moving to San Diego in 2011, he founded Cirque Quirk to share his love for the performing arts, as well as to deliver positive, uplifting, and motivational messages through his shows.
As his circus has grown, it now encompasses more than 150 talented performers throughout the US. He books everything you could see at a traveling circus, such as aerialists, stilt walkers, dancers, acrobats, contortionists, DJs, musicians, hula-hoopers, complete theatrical stage shows including fire and LED as well as event rentals. Cirque Quirk specializes in giant Robots and movie-quality costumed characters. Nathaniel has also learned many talents along the way including: stilt walking, jumping stilts, partner acrobatics, clowning, balancing, puppeteering and puppet building, as well as LED & fire juggling/spinning. He is registered as a contractor with the county of San Diego on the Preferred Performers list for Libraries and schools and regularly works at the San Diego Zoo’s Safari Park in Escondido. He is constantly expanding and growing his company and the services he provides. He prides himself on providing high-quality entertainment with professional and reliable performers. You can hire him and his troupe at www.CirqueQuirk.com
Outside of his primary profession, Nathaniel enjoys worldwide adventures (especially bicycle touring), yoga, backpacking, hiking and mountain climbing. Nathaniel is an avid “foodie”/nutritionist and loves to cook. He has a passion for permaculture, massage, healing, and visual art. Throughout his travels, he has taken amazing pictures, and developed his ability to draw and paint; eventually starting a second company called Allenby Art. You can see his work at www.AllenbyArt.com
Nathaniel’s dream is to perform while traveling around the world, and he wants to write a book someday. He is currently writing a play and expanding his performance art abilities. He loves to perform and create art, and is thankful for every opportunity to spread a positive message; he sees life as a blessing and wants to share his gifts to help make the world a better place.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road less traveled is rarely smooth. Nathaniel began with no experience in small business management and had to learn everything along the way. He also ruptured his Achilles tendon a few years ago, and had to relearn how to walk, while simultaneously going through a divorce. He has been fortunate to have quality mentors and partnerships with performers and event services professionals. The recent global situation has led to events being cancelled, putting Nathaniel and his team of performers out of work.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Cirque Quirk – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

What sets us apart our motivational messages and uplifting/encouraging themes, our professionalism and reliability, the business ethics, accountability, and transparency of the company. In nine years of operation, we have yet to be late for a show! Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
San Diego is an incredible place with beautiful weather and geographic features. It is rich in multiculturalism and full of diverse opportunity. It can feel very large compared to rural Oregon, and stressful waiting in traffic. He love people’s enthusiasm for entertainment and the circus arts, as well as the plethora of parks, fairs, conventions, and venues for entertainment. Of all the places Nathaniel has traveled, this is his favorite!
