Meet Neeki Ostad

Today we’d like to introduce you to Neeki Ostad.

Hi Neeki, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello all! My name is Neeki and I am an Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner. Originally, I had no idea I was going to be an aesthetic nurse. I had just received a job offer from Rady Children’s Hospital for their NICU new graduate residency program when COVID hit. I had finally landed my dream job, and the next thing I heard was the program being put on hold due to the pandemic. There were many sleepless nights and worries as to what I’m going to do with my newly earned RN license and no job to use it. I started applying to all different kinds of RN jobs that were willing to train a new nurse. I happened to luck out with an interview at a medical spa and was hired on the spot. With that job, I received comprehensive training in a high volume practice, expediting my knowledge of how to perform all different kinds of aesthetic services including neurotoxins, fillers, microneedling, lasers, PDO threads, Sculptra, etc. Six months into working, I decided to enroll back in school to earn my NP license so I can expand my knowledge and autonomy. Fast forward 2 years, I have worked at 3 different medical spas and just earned my NP degree! I wouldn’t trade my job for the world.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It honestly has been a smooth road thus far in terms of my career. My only struggle included learning how to manage school, work, and a social life. I am definitely the type of person who is married to their career and Type A when it comes to school. I tend to become a hermit and hide away to do the best I can. During this time, I have definitely learned who my true friends are and who is there to support me and my goals/aspirations. It’s important to have a strong support system, otherwise it’s really hard to juggle it all.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an aesthetic nurse injector and specialize in all injectables, which include neurotoxins and dermal fillers. I would say I’m known for the work I do on lips with lip fillers! It just happens to be an area where most patients are okay with their photo being shared since it is only cropped to their lips. It didn’t take long for the lip filler procedure to be in high demand. I would say it’s the most requested service I provide. I think what sets me apart is my technique. I really strive for a natural look, and I always say with any injection, I want to enhance what you have and not change how you look. Unfortunately, aesthetic procedures have a negative connotation associated with them due to all the botched work out there. I really wanted to change people’s minds about that and not make them scared to try something new if it’s going to make them feel better about themselves. What sets me apart is my skill set, experience, and meticulous eye. I am a perfectionist and am always wanting to learn to be better and do better for my patients. I attend conferences and lectures whenever I can to stay up to date with this ever-changing field, and I love every second of it!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Instagram is a great place to network! Most people nowadays are very active on there and are constantly posting their work and opinions on different matters. We’re lucky to have a platform like Instagram where people are just a message away. I think it’s important for everyone to have someone in the field that they’re in to ask questions to and collaborate on ideas with. We should all aid in each other’s growth because we all started from somewhere. Community over competition, always.
