Meet Neely Waiche of Initiate Change Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Neely Waiche.

Initiate Change Fitness’s services are derived from Neely’s education, passion, and experience in the health and fitness industry, for over 16 years. She has always had a strong interest in the fitness and nutrition industry. As a young gymnast she was always physically active and loved the feeling of being strong. Nutrition was always of interest to her as her family grew all of their own fruits and vegetables in their back yard and had fresh eggs every morning from their pet chickens. She quickly learned that good nutrition can have a strong impact on one’s health and that real food tastes so much better than anything from a store. Her organization skills grew from her artistic talent and love of design. Her secondary dream has always been to design her own high end lingerie line. All of these things in combination, created the ground work for her to develop a business that she truly loves and is passionate about.

Neely has worked in the fitness industry since her very first job, at the age of 16. She has acquired her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, with an emphasis in Fitness, Nutrition, and Health from San Diego State University.

She is twice certified through the nation’s top accredited health and fitness organization, American Council on Exercise, as a Certified Group Fitness instructor and Certified Personal Trainer. She has a multitude of additional certifications, from Madd Dogg Spinning to specializing in Posture and Alignment, which support her knowledge and experience in the health and fitness industry.

Upon attaining her degree in Kinesiology, she acquired a position with the #1 corporate fitness company in America, Plus One Health Management, as an Exercise Specialist in Los Angeles, California, at the Walt Disney Studios. She advanced to work for other top corporate fitness companies, within the United States, from HealthFitnessCorp on Wall St,. New York, NY, to Loews Coronado Hotel Resort and San Diego Gas & Electric with San Diego Wellness Source, in San Diego. Over the past 5 years, after her return to San Diego, she has had the joy of teaching at her Alma mater, SDSU, as a Kinesiology instructor. She has created, developed, and taught Exercise and Nutritional Science credit classes, Beginning Weight Training and Fitness Training for Women.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
One thing we all know is that life is not a linear road from point A to point B. Every day can be a struggle in business or in life. I have been privileged enough to learn how to get through business and life by seeing first hand what it takes to make it worth it. Both, my mother and father, each owned their own businesses and worked every day for their success. With them as my example, I learned about how to work with people, run a business, and how to get through the days that can be stressful, frustrating, and unsuccessful.

My father always said, “if you care, the money will come.” I do not have a business degree, and the fitness industry has become increasingly saturated with trendy fitness classes and personal trainers. However, after every session spent with a client or group of clients, I walk home overjoyed by the fact that each client accomplished something for themselves today, just by showing up– and that makes this job most rewarding for me. My clients are so inspiring to me that if I ever struggle with something, their focus, motivation, and enjoyment of our sessions, help build me back up. I find it to be truly a reciprocal relationship. Business can be hard, but every client I see achieve their potential, makes it worth it.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Initiate Change Fitness is a fitness and wellness company, owned by Neely Waiche since 2008. Initiate Change Fitness offers small group fitness classes, personal training, nutrition, and lifestyle management sessions. We specialize in helping our clients learn how to build healthy and easy to maintain habits in every aspect of their lives. Group fitness classes and private personal training teaches our clients’ the importance of proper exercise form for their unique strength, functionality, and fitness level. Nutrition suggestions and recipes are catered toward improving our clients’ eating habits, relationships with food, and emphasizes clean eating for optimal health and energy. Lifestyle management entails home, kitchen, and closet organization that creates an environment that is supportive of our clients’ new, healthy habits and helps reduce stress in their daily lives.

With the prevalence of heart disease within the U.S. accompanied by increases in health insurance costs, people are looking for ways to decrease their doctor visits and they are doing that by looking for ways to get healthy. People are wanting to become educated on what health and fitness is and start making it a part of their lifestyle.

Initiate Change Fitness is a strong advocate for encouraging this trend. By providing an opportunity where people can gain the benefits, knowledge, and experience of health living, we can positively contribute to this ongoing trend. Initiate Change Fitness wants to inspire the San Diego community to adapt healthy habits while, at the same time, enjoying the journey, so that the overall health of the community, and population at large, will be living long and healthy lives.

Our group fitness classes are small in size (no more than 10 people per class) for good reason. Our small classes host the opportunity for people to have a more individualized approach to learning proper exercise form, share healthy nutrition and lifestyle tips through discussion, encourage regular positive behavior, enjoy an experience with low intimidation factors, and emphasize friendliness.

Initiate Change Fitness focuses on a personal and genuine experience to its clientele. All of this is our staple in creating a company that cares for the health of its clientele and desire to see that their goals are achieved.
