Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole (Coco) Speaker.
Nicole, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
1904 Men’s Refinery the name and this idea came to me while I was at a friends wedding. I’ve been a barber for two years and done a few groomsmen parties, but there’s always a crunch in time and getting everyone to the right spot on time… so I thought… mobile.
As barbers, we can’t just bring our gear somewhere and give the same service… between lighting, plugs, and the chair itself, it’s impossible to replicate. “Bring the shop to them,” I thought, plus it eases the stress on brides for time frame! Two weeks later after some research, I was set to find a trailer.
No more talking and thinking, I needed to DO IT. None of this would be possible if it weren’t for my roommate Reno. Reno was the brains and muscle of the remodel. My momma also contributed so much. She painted and refurbished the cabinets in the whole trailer, and helped me decorate. She’s amazing at decorating and colors!
We are about to begin booking for weddings and events for 2019. I’m thrilled to be a part of couples special day. We will make sure the guys are picture perfect and have a fun and relaxing time!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a pretty smooth ride so far with the remodel! I hope the rest goes as smooth!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
1904 Men’s Refinery is about men and weddings. We are here to provide a fun and relaxing pre-wedding experience to groomsmen who have previously not be catered to.
We are known for a classy and fun environment where groomsmen can kick back, have a beer, play darts, and receive quality grooming. Haircuts, beard trims, and hot towel shaves come with the classic head massager, complimentary beer, and styling with premium products.
We are set apart by the whole concept of coming to you with the entire barbering experience.
What were you like growing up?
Haha! I was born in Southern California, but I grew up in Leipers Fork Tennessee. Horses were my life, and I spent most of my time at barns with all the animals I could collect. I was frequently referred to as “one of the boys,” never afraid to get dirty or hurt.
Mostly, I was known for my love for animals, the outdoors and being very quiet yet stubborn. I never fell into a category of friends, I was a bit weird.. some say I still am, haha!
