Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Kazimer.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Nicole. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I actually started in the finance world and after graduating with an MBA in finance I decided it was time to start living my passion. I left the corporate life and moved to Sydney Australia where I became a yoga instructor. While living there I spent a ton of time outside and wanted to shed light on the benefits of the outdoors back at home. Once returned back to my hometown Rochester, NY, in Upstate NY I became to teach yoga to my friends in the local parks. Soon I began infusing a hiking aspect into the class to allow participants to connect with nature and see new trails. About 6 months after establishing Hikyoga in Upstate NY we decided to take the leap and introduce Hikyoga to the West Coast, San Diego! Now 2 years later we have over 20 (and growing) Hikyoga Instructors throughout the United States!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No such things as a smooth road… a smooth road just gets you to the so called finish line too fast then you get bored! Struggles 1. The juggle act of managing all the tasks presented to an entrepreneur. 2. Learning to trust the journey. We are humans and it is natural to keep wanting more and when owning a business just like in everyday life you need to understand that where you are on your life path is where you are supposed to be. High profit, super successful companies do not happen overnight! It’s easy to constantly want more this day in age and it will come but enjoy now being a start up!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Hikyoga is a Hiking infused yoga class. We inspire others to spend more time outside. We are known for the passion for taking our yoga practice outside and is enhances all the benefits of yoga as well as nature. As a company I am most proud of the community that has grown. Everyone is extremely supportive so excited to participate in Hikyoga! The growth our company as seen in just two years is incredible. From Upstate NY to California, Colorado, North Carolina, and Cleveland and growing! Just amazes me!
We are different from others because not only do we focus on the importance of the students. We make sure the students have the best experience from sign up to finish. But our Hikyoga Instructors are SO valued. We offer an extensive training to yoga teachers to bring them up to speed and train them on how to be the very best yoga and hikyoga teacher they can be. It is common to feel unsure of the next steps to take after graduating from yoga school so we help start up teachers feel comfortable, confident and ready to teach!
What were you like growing up?
I was always ready for change and wanting to get outside. My mom still says, ” You should of been a dog in your life, always wanting to be outside.” I always wanted to keep moving and find adventures. I didn’t know what I wanted to be when I grow up until I was 27… after undergrad and receiving an MBA. I now know I want to be a yoga entrepreneur! 🙂
