Meet Nolan Cook of Cooks Catering

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nolan Cook.

Nolan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my journey as a child watching my grandmother cook for our family. She would prop me up on the counter, and I would watch closely as she effortless created meals I still make to this day. As I got older, I found great joy in watching culinary shows, and the awesome shows I watched on the Food Network channel. This was when I discovered that I had a true passion for food. I decided to enroll into culinary school for cuisine and business.

After working in several cooking positions, such as restaurants, hospital cafeterias and more, I began to feel like there was more out there for me! I met my wife Asia in 2015, instead of going on traditional dates, instead I would cook for her. She would be so blown away each time, raving to everyone about it! She would encourage me to do more with my talent and my passion. She placed the match on the fire that had always been inside of me. That fire has been burning ever since!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Absolutely not, I don’t believe that any destination is as smooth as we would like it to be. This is how we prove our determination and faith. I have lost jobs or been at jobs I truly had no interest in. I would work in cooking positions and still feel unsatisfied.

I had a desire to do and be more, I had a calling to do more with my talents, to do more with my creativity. I am truly thankful for all the opportunities I had leading up to becoming an entrepreneur, they all shaped me into the leader that I am today.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Our business is Cooks Catering, owned and ran by my wife and I. We cater great food! We offer a variety of food, inspired by different cultures. We are not your traditional catering company, we cook what we love and what we feel. We are known for our tasty Cajun Chicken Pasta! It’s soooooo good!

We are very proud of the way we have grown within the last year and the way that we keep striving toward our goals despite the challenges we are faced with. We believe that God is our leader and with him, we are able to be all that we set out to be. At Cooks Catering we like to stand out by rocking a brand that comes natural to us, we provide passion filled food, memorable customer service, and a display of teamwork in marriage!

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was silly, energetic, and fun! I love sports and still do to this day. I was a family kind of kid, I believe that a family should be tight. I traveled with my parents and siblings and spent a great amount of time with my grandmother.
