Hi Paul, thank you so much for sitting down with us again. For folks who might have missed our initial interview, can you start by briefly introducing yourself?
My name is Paul Hunyady and I am a San Diego native, born and raised in Ocean Beach. I have been designing my entire life. After opening up and leading a very successful landscape design business, Mooch Exterior Designs, Inc. and its sister company North Park Nursery I made a quality of life, moved to Oh! Landscape Design Build and have now landed at Retro Landscape Design Build, Inc.

At Retro we are focusing almost exclusively on historic home landscape design and build. What is definitely our passion, saving and enhancing our historic neighborhoods is an incredible honor and we feel fortunate to do it.

Anything else we should know about you or your background?
The concept of creating smart innovative outdoor space in what are generally small homes with large yards intrigues me. Figuring out how to create functional usable outdoor areas in our amazing climate just makes sense.

Why “Retro”? How is it relevant to the current trend in design, lifestyle and fashion?
In our historic communities, we generally have 6 basic home styles. Victorian
Arts and Crafts
Spanish Colonial
and Post-war.

When Retro develops designs, we compliment these styles when appropriate, as well as collaborating on the client’s style and our knowledge of what works in landscape design build.

What do you always aim to achieve in each project?
We aim to achieve stunning design, smart use of space, customer satisfaction, enhanced livable space and property value. Our ultimate achievement would be our clients’ opinion that working on your home with a designer and builder can be an enjoyable, pain-free endeavor.

What is your role as a landscape designer in your neighborhood(North Park, San Diego)?
Simple. Preserve and enhance historic architecture and the neighborhoods I’ve called home for over 20 years.

Thank you so much again for sharing all of this with us. Before we go, can you share with our readers how they can connect with you, learn more or show support?
