Meet Randy Bowen of Hyperlink Ink in Pacific Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Randy Bowen.

Randy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I guess it all started in college back in 1995 when the university asked me to write and teach a class over this thing called the “Internet”. I then left school to go write courseware and teach for a company that was known as Sun Microsystems. I believe it has been acquired by Oracle.

I used the knowledge I learned from Sun to write my own courseware and I started my first company unixnotes.com. This enabled me to able to travel and teach out of my own courseware all over the U.S. It was pretty awesome to see our great nation and meet all kinds of people from all walks of life.

During that time I met a group of students that were curious about how they could configure their servers to perform better for the purpose of bulk emailing. We later teamed up and I became a “spammer”. Not a proud moment in my life, but extremely profitable.

I found it was pointless to send people to a landing page that didn’t convert so I started AddADot.Com, a website design company that specialized in making landing pages that made it easy for site visitors to submit their information.

When content became king of the Internet and SEO was the number one way to get valuable visitors to your website, I started my 3rd and current company Hyperlink Ink where we create content and copy for Internet companies looking to increase their SEO ranking.

On the side, I have always worked as a consultant under the name of RB Consulting doing a little bit of everything you can think of technical on content development and web design.

After my business partner had some unfortunate events in his life, we closed down AddADot and I then started 180law.com – a service to lawyers that are looking to collect leads for class action and personal injury lawsuits.

There is more to share, but I think I have said enough for now.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The recession was a huge pothole in the road. I had to dance around that to keep business up and money coming in.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Hyperlink Ink – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Right now Hyperlink Ink is my main business, and it has turned more into a holding company for 180 Law (the lead generation company for lawyers), and Collect My Claim which collects money for mental health professionals from insurance companies. If it sounds like I stretched myself too thin, then your hearing is perfect.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I would like to experience the joys of fatherhood.
