Meet Renata Lima of White Eagle Reiki in North Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renata Lima.

Renata, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Brazil in a State full of mountains caves and waterfalls. Brazil has a diversity of religious ideals and spiritual practices which I grew up being exposed to. As a kid, my mom and my grandmother used to take me to a medicine man/woman to get healing sessions and blessings. As a teenager, I practiced meditation, read books about mystic stories, self-help, astronomy, and enjoyed expressing myself through a few creative outlets (poetry, music, painting and drawing).

In college, I decided to get a Bachelor degree in Computer Science as I had started learning computer programming in high-school and really enjoyed it. Fortunately, after I graduated I had a great opportunity to move to San Diego for a job with a software development company which was a dream I had (to live abroad) since I was a teenager.

Several years went by, and in my early 30’s some inner shifts were happening for me, I felt the need to reconnect with my artistic side, so I engaged in new hobbies (photography, video editing) to find satisfaction through my expression.

As I honored these hunches to explore new things and the desire for a change in my lifestyle, I felt drawn to the non-physical aspects of life again and wanted to develop my intuition. New doors started opening that led to meaningful new connections, meditation classes, clairvoyant and Reiki training. These spiritual practices have become a lifestyle, teaching me to turn within and create more balance in my life.

How spiritual practices affect us is different for everyone; my path has been a mix of moments of clarity and confusion, days of enormous joy and dark nights of the soul, and days where I felt split between doing Healing work and Tech work. One day while getting an energetic reading from a friend and mentor, I was reminded that the pressure I was feeling was self-inflicted and that I did not have to choose anything overnight, neither one was nobler than the other.

So I stopped succumbing to it and felt at peace that I could do different types of work in parallel, explore my hobbies, honor my gifts and express myself through different mediums, bringing my authentic self to anything I do. Whew!

It’s amazing how our inner programming can affect how we experience our lives. It’s also a reminder that nothing remains the same forever and things will change over time. Our job is to release resistance and allow ourselves to flow more at ease with life. At the moment I am immersed in a Shamanic training, following my inspirations and allowing my path to evolve naturally.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Insert Cheshire Cat grin here. 🙂 No, it hasn’t been smooth, but it has been worth it.

Making an analogy to the Red & Blue Pill in the Matrix movie, once you take the Red Pill there is no turning back because you already know and feel too much. When I started working with energy healing I was fascinated, I was curious to understand and to keep experimenting with it. The tools I’ve learned so far help me to dive deeper into myself, uncover wonderful gifts, and also face my shadows and some lurking fears – which are sometimes uncomfortable to be with.

After my first Reiki training, I became more sensitive to other people’s energies around me, I’d walk into a room full of people and feel overwhelmed since I didn’t quite know how to separate my own energy from others. Over time I’ve learned techniques on how to better manage it. It’s been important to recognize that I don’t need to make other’s emotions mine, so being mindful of this helps me to create healthier energetic boundaries. Aside from that, I feel like the most challenging practice is to do the daily inner work. I go through phases in which I experience the highs and lows on the same day, mainly when I am working on some specific aspect of my life that is calling for a transformation and expansion.

There were moments when I felt alone on this journey, so the community has played an important factor, is where I forge beautiful friendships and participate in circles that provide support and foster personal growth. Despite the challenges, I love this work! I love being in touch with my soul, being able to tune to higher frequencies, to commune with nature in ways I haven’t before, to experience transformations in myself and also to witness them in others.
Cheers to that!

White Eagle Reiki – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Currently, I offer Reiki and Card Reading Sessions, I do a daily Oracle card post on Instagram and I have a blog on my website where I share messages of support to others, based on my own journey. Lately, I’ve been integrating sounds in my healing sessions, such as drumming, rattling, whistling, chanting, etc with the intention to help raise the client’s vibration.

Since I like to play guitar and write poetry, I’ve been feeling inspired to create my own songs, and that’s something I am exploring at the moment and I’d like to see it evolving.

Although my music proficiency is not at a professional level, I don’t let that stop me from experimenting and dreaming about possibilities while I am learning techniques. Even if I decide not to make it available for public consumption, it’s still an important endeavor for me that allows me to stay in touch with my creativity.

I also have another project that I’m still contemplating about how I’m going to implement, that involves sharing more about my Energy work online, and I will (eventually) make that available on my website.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me, success is the feeling of being aligned with my soul’s path.

I feel this alignment when I am being true to myself, when I am expressing myself through my gifts, bringing charisma to my work & projects. And it’s great when I can inspire others to follow their own guidance so they can find healthy ways to bring relief to their pains and feel more joy in life.
