Meet Renata Lubowiecka of European Hair Salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renata Lubowiecka.

Renata began her career as a hairdresser in Poland at the age of 15. The basic formal professional training took three years.

After school, she started work in a small hair salon in her hometown city Gdynia. With the passing time and the acquisition of professional experiences, she started to work for larger and more reputable hairdressing salons. Her skills and professionalism have been recognized on many occasions during the national hairdressing competitions, where she gained top places. At the same time, she also won her first hair stylist experiences on the movie and television productions as well as large music events.

Her brilliant hairstyles career was growing at a rapid pace until she emigrated to the United States with her husband at the age of 30.

After starting a new life in the United States, she began work at one of a hairdressing salon in Seattle (WA). She briefly noticed that she had to offer much more to her customers than the “standard approach” offered by chained hair salons. She decided to open her first salon “Renata – European Hair Salon” in Renton (WA). During seven years of operation, her salon met with customer appreciation, gathering a large group of returning clients. In 2016 there was an unexpected turn in her career. Renata and her family moved to San Diego (CA).

Immediately after arriving, she has started to rebuild her salon in Downtown San Diego at the Phoenix Salon Suites location. She has already been there for over two years. As before, customers quickly appreciated her salon for professionalism, quality of service and individual approach to the client as well as her “warm” personality.

Has it been a smooth road?
I used to treat obstacles as challenges rather than difficulties. It helps me to manage them more easily and optimistically. There were couple serious challenges during my career, especially after I moved to the US:

• Obviously, language is a big challenge when you start a new life in the new country (I didn’t speak English before arrival to the US).

• I had to earn local state Cosmetology licenses (Washington and California).

• Establishing a small business after living in new country just three years is definitely challenging task.

• Downtown San Diego hairdressing business environment is completely different than everything that I have seen so far. It is extremely difficult to keep a group of returning customers due to high rate of downtown resident migration.

I have great support from my husband, who helps me on the formal side of running the business on a daily basis.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am known for my individual approach to each customer and quality of my work. Customer satisfaction is the most important thing for me – I consider service unfinished if the customer is not fully satisfied. In my work, I use only European cosmetics of the highest quality, well-known brands like Wella and Goldwell.

With over 28 years of hairstyling experience, you can trust that you are going to a place that has the capability to do everything when it comes to hair. Both men and women are welcome to walk into the salon for shampoo, cut or style, and we promise that no matter what you need to have done, you’ll be happy that you came into Renata – European Hair Salon. Besides the normal root touch ups, European hairstyles, hair highlights, and layers. Straightening, iron curling, and special event hair styling is just a few of the other specialties that you can expect from Renata – European Hair Salon.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
San Diego is a beautiful place. Unfortunately, Downtown San Diego hairdressing business environment is very competitive and difficult due to the high rate of downtown resident migration. I would not recommend starting your first hair salon in this area unless you have enough resources to support long business start-up period.
