Meet Robert Blume, Photographer and Event Planner of Intivisuals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Blume.

Robert, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I made my way to San Diego from NYC the day after Christmas 2014. My best friend, a cartoonist named Orlando Velez, and my self-drove over and settled in this lovely city. I have been shooting photography for 11 years. My work has to lead me to a few different opportunities like showcasing for RAW artists. When I started showcasing my work, I was sure that I had the potential to continue as an artist. I was getting a lot of positive feedback and I was very young. I was showing work in a club in Manhattan and I wasn’t even 20 years old. The experience built the life that I live now. When I settled in San Diego, I have already been showcased with Raw four times in NYC. I attended the Art Institute for Digital Photography. Fortunately, I met some really dedicated artists by going to school. I met Joesph Mustin, a photographer, and event planner. I also met Paulo, a producer, and DJ. I linked with these artists and my artist career lifted off. I started showcasing for Paulo at his events that were house and techno based. This lead me to work with other underground groups like Clique, Soul Work, and Divinity. Joe was curating his own art and music events called The Wall Art show at a studio warehouse called Studio MIF. I presented there a lot. His shows featured rap and Hip Hop, showcasing rappers like KOH and Sir Karri.

In the mix of all these different platforms I was published in Photographer’s Forum Magazine, Best of High school and College 2017 and then again in 2018. I also started volunteering for RAW artists which lead me to be the Production Coordinator for their events. Joe became the lead photographer for their shows as well. We were able to prove hard work and consistency really does pay off. I became the lead photographer at the Studio MIF and began planning a special event for March 2018. The studio was the location for my first curation Connect, an interactive art experience. I have utilized all my knowledge of art, planning, marketing, and showcasing to create an unforgettable night of interactive art with amazing artists at a unique location.

I still attend AI in another degree, I still work for RAW artists, and another Connect may be coming soon!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes, it has been a smooth road. the only struggles are thinking about making the right choices, any choice can lead you on a different path.

Intivisuals – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business is Intivisuals, intimate visuals. I specialize in fashion photography. I like to build my own scenes with awesome lighting, environment, and sexy models. I have developed a niche in my industry by shooting a lot of colorful and unique subject matter. Whether it is in a studio or on location, I can make you badass.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My art experience called Connect. It was an event in a studio warehouse in La Mesa called Studio MIF. The event was based on telecommunication and technology. The idea was to connect people through old and fun pieces like rotary phones, radios, typewriters and much more. It was unique because all of the featured artists created new pieces based on the theme. I also showcased three different kinds of music in three different rooms. Rap and hip-hop, House and Techno, and a live alternative folk band. Guests were blown away.
