Meet Rod Sweis of Cali v. Smog – Star Station & Vehicle Registration Service in La Mesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rod Sweis.

Rod, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Cali v. Smog opened in 2012 to better serve the San Diego community with honest and reasonably priced smog checks.

In 2015, Cali v. Smog incorporated New Tag City into its office, making it possible for customers to purchase their registration stickers after getting their smog, avoiding the DMV completely. We feel this is something the community appreciates and we’re proud of that fact!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course not! Constant regulations and rule changes make it hard to stay up in running. But we respect our customers and in turn they respect us, which has kept us going.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a smog and registration service. After getting a smog check, one has the option to pay an additional fee to purchase renewal stickers or perform in state and out of state transfers without stepping foot in a DMV.

What were you like growing up?
Somewhat reserved. Always kept to myself but always had big aspirations.
