Meet Rodrigo Iglesias of Balanced Fitness and Health

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodrigo Iglesias.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It’s actually pretty funny and had a life moment so to speak. I was actually doing the 12 miles swim across Lake Tahoe five years ago and the swim takes around 5 hours to do give or take. It was amazing being up there and a lot of time to think. The water was so clear that you could see 50 feet down and there was still snow on the mountains and the water was like glass. The whole time I was thinking to myself that I was in the wrong business and wanted to go back to fitness. I was so out of shape while doing the swim and just made me realize how the restaurant / bar industry was not fulfilling me like it used to. I knew not only did I have to get myself right but wanted to help other people do it as well. There are so many of us still looking for that defining moment in life to tell us what we are supposed to do and I got it while doing something I loved and as wellbeing active so thought, why couldn’t I provide that for others? Finding the confidence and as well yourself through fitness is the most amazing journey. Well to me that is. I at least want to help people in that sense. The rest is history.

Has it been a smooth road?
This has been the best and worst decision for me…Haha. It was a struggle to say the very least here. The first two years we were over budget and as well had no idea what I had got myself into. It was a struggle to find my place in this industry and as well to learn the business with no resources at all. We literally made every mistake possible and as well had no backing to help us out of it because we had run out of everything. When I look back I actually wonder how we even did it… Haha.

Not only did I learn the business and built a foundation now but I also arguably learned more about myself. I learned what I was capable of, made my weakness’s my strengths and as well made my strengths even stronger. Had to learn a whole new network and as well a new mentality. Had to go back to the grunt work which I was not used to for a bit.

Looking forward to all the new things we will be doing and able to do along with new locations, this is probably the best decision I have ever made and happy to share it with others.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are a boutique style gym. We specialize on providing the versatility in fitness so that the individual or groups may maintain a Balanced lifestyle of fitness, work, family, nutrition etc.

We are known mostly for our customer service and the attention to detail on our members goals that they not only have in the gym but outside the gym as well.

I’m really proud of just the connection we have with our family/members here. We know everybody by name and all of their ins and outs of what they are trying to achieve.

All of the above sets us apart. Everybody offers fitness, accountability and nutrition but it’s how you do it. In most gym you have to search for it, with us we make sure you have it and we get to you and educate on it.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
San Diego is an amazing city. In our industry it always ranks as the top 5 cities for fitness so couldn’t ask for more.

San Diego is probably one of the most transit cities I have lived in and all sorts of people come here so if you want to try a new concept or a new spin on something that already exists I would highly recommend it.
