Meet Rodrigo Medeiros of BJJ Revolution team and Pacific beach Fight center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodrigo Medeiros.

Rodrigo, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and started Judo when I was 5 years old.

At age of 12 I started in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under, Grand master Carlson Gracie, the oldest son of the sport founder, Grand master Carlos Gracie.

I won several titles in Brazil and in 1996 I moved to LA, with my Grand master where we open a academy in West Hollywood.

In 2000 I moved to SD, and open my academy in Pacific beach where still is located.

Since it, we had thousands of students, from all different ages and try to help them to reach their goals. My academy is a family environment in a friendly atmosphere.

We have anti bullying kids program, anti-Rape preventions, Self defense, BJJ, Judo and NO GI classes.

The more important is to help the students to have their progress in Life thru the sport. Jujitsu helps anyone, to do a great activity, help on weight loss, feel confident, build self-esteem, respect and the right attitude.

Leave your EGO at the door and have fun learning the most efficient way of self defense. On the mat, we are all the same!

As a competition level the team one 6x times the USBJJF national Championship, and the 2011 PAN AM Championship and several locals tournaments.

Rodrigo Medeiros has won, 5 x Brazilian Champion, 2 x the World masters 2001 and 2017, 5 x Pan am Champion [1996,2003, 2004, 2016, 2017] Asian open Champion [2013], US national Champion [2008]

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been fun.

If you love what you do, it’s all about it.

Of course we have some issues, with bad membership months, business damages [Leaking, flooding], but we can complain, we been around for 17 years, it’s a blessing.

Please tell us about BJJ Revolution team/ Pacific beach Fight center -Rodrigo Medeiros BJJ.
I think that our difference is our family environment, We all know each other. When you come to Pacific beach fight center, you are looking for an academy but you’ll find a family forever. That’s why we vet been in the business for so long, at the same location. We are the second oldest BJJ academy in San Diego and still a lot more years to come. I have some students that I’ve been training with us for 17 years.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Do with your heart, its business but the personal relation is more important than anything.
