Meet Ron and Kris Saradpon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron and Kris Saradpon.

Ron and Kris, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my photography business at the end of the year in 2012. After so many years of being a hobbyist and photographing different life events of family and friends, I decided that I wanted to start my own business in something that I really enjoyed doing. After filing my fictitious business name, getting my business and registering a domain name, I started offering my photography services to friends and family.

I wanted to photograph everything from birthdays to family portraits. It was until I started offering my photography services to Military Mondays, that I wanted to focus and emphasize my photography business on wedding photography. I was blessed to have met Chaplains Christopher and Mary because they accepted me with open arms to be part of their Military Mondays team. Military couples were able to have a courthouse wedding but near the ocean with four locations offered. If the couple wanted a musician, photographer, videographer, and flowers, they would request it. Then, if anyone who was available wanted to offer their services, they would do it. These services were always provided free of charge to the military couple. I was able to offer my photography services to many of these military couples. For me, it was a way of giving back to my military community especially because I’m a Navy veteran myself. I offered to do as many of those weddings as I could because I knew as a startup photographer, I had to have more photos of my work added to my portfolio online.

With the wedding photography business, I also started offering photo booth services to wedding couples. I bought a portable booth which was able to take photos and print out photo strips on-site. This was one of the raves going on during that time and lots of weddings and parties were booking photo booths. I wouldn’t have been able to start up my photography business and photo booth business without the help of my wife and two kids. My wife and daughter sometimes assisted me in photographing weddings. The three of them also ran the photo booth while I photographed the wedding or event that we were booked for. It was also my wife that kept me motivated when I was in doubt about my photography business.

After a couple of years, my youngest brother Kris decided to invest in his own camera so he could start photographing his own daughter. Kris started photographing on his own and started learning different photography techniques online. He started second shooting for our friend Marcel. Kris was able to learn a lot of great lighting techniques from Marcel. Our other friend Aldryn helped us out whenever we had questions about Nikon cameras. It was because of our two friends and their recommendations that I made the switch to Nikon. I decided to offer my brother Kris to join me in being part of Saradpon Photography.

Forward to the current timeline and many weddings later, here we are. Me and my brother Kris doing our photography business. We have our talks about how we can become more of a force in the wedding photography industry. We came up with a new vision and mission for our business. We will be rebranding our logo with a new business name, which will be Beloved Images. We will still provide our fun and energetic attitude with every wedding we photograph. We will still provide those dynamic posed shots but look forward to photographing those raw and true emotions that we love to capture in candid shots.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some of the obstacles that I dealt with was finding clients that wanted to book me and finding the right pricing to charge my clients. Sometimes, I doubted my skills because I wasn’t being booked by friends or family members that had events that required photography. It was my wife that always instilled more confidence in me, which kept me thriving to become better. There are many challenges and struggles of becoming a wedding photographer in the industry because there is so much competition and it’s oversaturated with photographers.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Saradpon Photography (soon to change to Beloved Images) – what should we know?
We wanted to emphasize more on photographing weddings and engagements. We still do photograph family portraits and maternity photos. I think that everyone that has booked us, knows that we are just a couple of dorky guys that love doing what we do. We like to have fun with our photo sessions and making sure everyone feels relaxed and that they are enjoying themselves.

We both are proud of our company and the impact it has made on our clients. We love seeing them smile and get all excited when we show them a sample of the photo we just took of them on our camera. Or seeing how happy they are when we provide them with their wedding photos. We are proud of the 100 plus 5-star reviews left for us on Wedding Wire and the Knot. Some other proud moments for our company was being booked for out of state weddings in Virginia, New York, and Las Vegas. We are also proud to have been booked for an Estee’ Lauder conference in San Diego. We have been booked and flown out for the past four years for Cooley’s Anemia Foundation Patient-Family Conference which was in San Diego, Baltimore, Georgia, and San Francisco.

What sets us apart? We ask ourselves that as well. We are knowledgeable in lighting techniques which is something that we want to set ourselves apart from other photographers. Our attitude and personality definitely set us apart from others. This two brothers duo team works for us. We can be silly and dorky together, which is an advantage for us. It’s the reason we get booked. It’s the reason word of mouth spreads and people want to book us.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
God has blessed us with this opportunity to provide our talent to so many couples and families. Our wives, our children, and our families have been our motivators and supporters. Our friend’s Marcel and Aldryn have been our mentors and advisors. Our friends, our clients, our co-workers have been awesome supporters and let us know that our work is worth it. Thank you to Chaplain Mary and Christopher for giving me a chance to be more. Without all of you in our lives and you giving us your support, we would not be Saradpon Photography.
