Meet Ruth Soleymani of Pet Buddy Service in Rancho Bernardo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruth Soleymani.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ruth. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When working in the corporate world, I spent my lunch breaks at my house taking my dog for his noon time walk. In San Diego, I didn’t know anyone who could walk my dog for me.

Today, I’m retired, but I still remember twenty years ago how I worried about my dog when I was at work. For this reason, I opened Pet Buddy Service. Today, my calendar is full with dog walks Monday through Friday. Obviously, I have filled a need by taking care of pets when their humans are at work.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Becoming a dog walker/pet sitter has been surprisingly easy. Firstly, when I opened Pet Buddy Service in July 2012, I didn’t know that there was a huge need for a dog walker/pet sitter in our society.

Pet parents feel a peace of mind knowing that someone is giving attention to their beloved pet, while they are at work.. Having a chance to go outdoors for 30 or 45 minutes makes a huge difference in your dog’s day.

Secondly, kennels for boarding your pet are cold and impersonal. Your pet feels abandoned in a kennel, and doesn’t understand why he/she is at the kennel. It is easier on your dog having a pet sitter stay at your house while you are on vacation. Cats especially do not like their routine disturbed. A house visit twice a day will allow your cat to stay in his/her comfort zone.

Finally, being a professional dog walker/pet sitter is more than being an animal lover. As a member of Pet Sitter’s International, I am able to take courses to learn more about different species. Education prevents accidents which makes my being a dog walker/pet sitter a most enjoyable professional.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Pet Buddy Service – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My approach to handling pets is calmly incorporating body and mind with your pets. The togetherness makes your pets feel secure, which will stabilize their behavior. Pets, especially bunnies, pet pockets and reptiles, are naturally nervous when their pet parents are away. By staying calm, I can reassure your pets that everything is fine.

My Specialties Include:
Cat Care
In-Home Dog Sitting, while you are on vacation
Dog Training
Dog Walking
Blog on pet care

Since graduating from Animal Behavior College, I have become a dog trainer specializing in gentle training techniques for dogs. Instead of coercing dogs into the right behavior, I use treats to reward good behavior. I ignore negative behaviors, which teaches the dog that the right behavior will get him/her a treat. A professional pet sitter is more than being an animal lover. As a member of Pet Sitters International, I have taken courses to understand your pets’ needs. Education prevents accidents.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The pet industry is constantly changing because there is a huge demand for pet products..65% of families in our society have a pet.

By continually taking courses in pet care, I will pass on what I have learned to pet parents. My motto and the motto of Pet Sitters International is “education prevents accidents”
