Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Razoky.
Samantha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I fondly remember my mother having a beautiful mink coat (I wouldn’t buy real fur!) that I would steal out of her closet at the age of three, so I could walk around the house with it dragging behind me because I was imaging I was a princess. I always had a penchant for luxury, at even such a young age. As I grew that taste evolved, I would purchase Vogue just to admire advertisements from large fashion houses. I was intrigued by the clothes, the models, and the photoshoots. Growing up in a city allowed me to explore this fascination further. Style became my passion. Art was my creativity. But I found that the two blended quite easily. My outfits were truly an expression of art, and I took pride in whatever I wore.
Before I had even entered college, I wanted to spend every hard-earned dollar on good stylish pieces. At 16, I got my first designer bag, a Louis Vuitton, and saved up my money to buy my dog, Capone a Louis Vuitton collar. By 18. I purchased my first Chanel bag. But not everything had to be expensive. I was fascinated by emerging designers, high-quality pieces at reasonable prices, and collecting items from markets all over the world when I would travel. Fashion isn’t about how much you paid for it. It’s about how it looks, how it feels, and most importantly how much you like it.
I completed my studies at Univerisity of San Diego and ventured into the automotive world where I worked for brands such as Porsche, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, and Mercedes-Benz. Although, all still luxury, I found myself yearning to get into something fashion related.
Thus, Califleur.com was born.
Has it been a smooth road?
Entrepreneurialism has its perks, but it is definitely a lot more glamorized than one would expect. Although I understand the marketing side of the business – the other aspects were fairly foreign to me. It was truly a humbling experience.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Califleur story. Tell us more about the business.
Califleur.com is a women’s online clothing store. Harnessing the unbridled spirit of the Golden State, that draws inspiration from the ghosts of fashions past and adapts them to the present—a unique hybrid of ‘60s/‘70s retro with a contemporary ‘je ne sais quoi.’ With clothing sourced from Australia, Great Britain, and North America, Califleur caters to the quintessential California girl, who is career-driven, forward-thinking, and constantly on the hunt for well-crafted garments at reasonable price points. Ultimately, our goal is to adorn you with fashionable clothing without surrendering quality, comfort, or style.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Although as we know, the retail industry is already heading in this direction, and I believe you will continuously see the rise of e-commerce as people demand more convenience and ease in their lives.
