Meet Samantha Smith of Wax It Babe in Little Italy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Smith.

Samantha, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Before launching a career in the industry, I spent my first 3 years out of esthetic school working with women from all walks of life at a cosmetic counter in Nordstrom to waxing salons and back to day spas. I was always all over the place never knowing exactly what I loved most about being an Esthetician. However when I got diagnosed with lupus it inspired me to put all my energy learning and get intense training on skin issues and understand the body more. I gave up makeup and knew my talents was in skin and want to share my knowledge I could give to my clients was in waxing and skin care. After working with great master estheticians and spa owner I realized to take a leap not to be scared to open my own shop.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I have only been open for four months but I think first starting of course you have challenges especially being from Houston all my life to now San Diego for only 2 years. I say the biggest challenge is marketing the good intention of growing your business soon turns into a collection of ideas and how-to information that pulls you in a dozen different directions. I hired an expert with industry experience curate and organize it so I can get to the most pertinent materials without spending an enormous about of time reading through everything the Internet has to offer, it help me save time and money while helping me identify the latest marketing trends and apply them to my business effectively.

Please tell us about Wax It Babe.

I think what sets me apart is that I am the owner and esthetician that only runs the shop that can give you my full attention and always feeding knowledge on any way I can help.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I don’t think I would do anything differently you always learn from mistakes to learn from and prevent from happening again.
