Meet Sarah Middleton of Itsy Bitsy Photography in Fallbrook

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Middleton.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sarah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve had a love for Photography my whole life! it was not until the birth of my second daughter that I was convinced this was my passion. My official website was launched in October 2005 my husband was the technical brain and helped a ton to get my website up and going and taught me how to understand and work with Photoshop.

Social Media was not really a big thing back then so if you wanted to get your name out there you had to physically get out there and do it, so I got out there and did some advertising in some local shops and boutiques left my business cards wherever I could and pretty much hustled.

To this day my goal has never changed I set out over 10 years ago to fulfill my creative desire and do something I love, I continue to grow my company through referrals and word of mouth which I feel is very important, I have a client base that is solid and amazing friends I have made along the way. Being able to call your job a passion is success in my eyes!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think it is always a struggle to stay true to yourself and not get caught up in what everyone else is doing, with social media so huge now it also brings what we all call “competition” the only person I strive to compete with is the photographer I used to be. I want to continue to grow and express my creativity through my photos and I can’t do that if I am constantly watching or critiquing what everyone else is doing.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Itsy Bitsy Photography – what should we know?
My company is Itsy Bitsy Photography I specialize in natural light photography, maternity, newborn, children, families, weddings to name a few. I am a vintage lover at heart and I like to bring that into my art, it gives a photograph something special and out of the ordinary and that is exactly what I love to create, something different. It makes me super proud when I take a look back through all the years and I can see how far I have come

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Unique, different, weird – those are the words that come to my mind right away.

If you are always following the crowd and doing what everyone else is doing you will become just that “one of the crowd”.

I don’t know about you but I want to stand out, maybe that is why I love to photograph children so much because they don’t know any different but to be themselves in their own unique weird way.
