Today we’d like to introduce you to Saverio.
Saverio, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up in Long Beach, California and traveled with a group of friends to Venice, Italy every year to participate in a regatta called the Vogalonga. We’d spend weeks in Venice eating, drinking, and rowing with the locals, After years of traveling to Italy and rowing in Venice, I thought I’d like to bring gondolas to California and found a great location in the Coronado Cays.
In 1999, the first gondolas arrived in Coronado and we’ve been taking passengers through the Coronado Cays ever since. The Coronado Cays is a residential community with waterfront homes and yachts along numerous canals and waterways, much like a modern Venice. It’s perfect for gondolas.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has mostly been smooth, although it takes a lot of work to be smooth.
One unique challenge in the gondola business, is finding parts and people qualified to do maintenance and repair.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Gondola Company – what should we know?
