Meet Sean Wheeler of Trilogy Martial Arts in El Cajon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Wheeler.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started martial arts when I was seventeen years old with kick boxing. I trained under Matt “The Machine” Laurence who was a light heavyweight kick boxing champion. After two years I advanced into Progressive Fighting System (PFS) under Paul Vunak. I received many different certifications through PFS. Equivalent to black belt standards. At thirty nine, I started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and started working towards my second black belt. I am now forty-seven with a brown belt under Professor Marcel Louzado. I have taken my love and passion for martial arts and decided to share that by opening my own gym Trilogy Martial Arts. It was established in January 2017.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Everything has been wonderful with the help and love from our community.

Trilogy Martial Arts – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Trilogy Martial Arts was established to help people become the best versions of themselves. Our classes are designed to build self-esteem, discipline, and respect. We specialize in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), Jeet Kune Do (JKD), and Wrestling. We are a personable family owned and operated business. We are passionate about what we do and love giving back to our community.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is established when you love and are passionate about what you do.
