Meet Kimberly Gladden-Eversley of Serenity Inspires

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Gladden-Eversley.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We all have a story; that story begins the moment we enter the world. My story begins in Brooklyn New York, the concrete jungle where dreamers and rebels fight for a platform to stand. I wasn’t personally raised by just dreamers but by teachers and doers. I was always aware of my ethnicity, my poor community infested with drug dealers on every corner, graffiti on the walls and the endless amount of odds that were weighed against not only me but my community. Sometimes I wonder how my parents developed the audacity to say “Kimberly, you are the next Oprah!”

I eventually found comfort in chaos, but writing and being the “fixer” for others was always my greatest escape. I would collect diaries to write about my experiences and gained wisdom in silence. I would crave the opportunity to encourage someone in any way possible. I was always super analytical yet optimistic, an overthinking philosopher and self-help book addict at a very young age. I would watch my mother make friends with complete strangers from all walks of life within minutes by serving them with her inherent life coaching skills. These impromptu sessions usually ended in tears as their souls became not only restored but transformed.

I would watch my father express his love for humanity with his generous nature and ability to bless others without the desire to receive anything in return. I like to call them underground philanthropists and the cheerleaders of the underdog. As I reflect on my life, I realize my career is not far-fetched but flows in perfect alignment with the calling over my life to join the team of service designed to uplift others. Growing up in the melting pot of Brooklyn NY opened doors to different cultures, religions and ideas, molding the open-hearted judgment-free spirit I am today.

My fondest memories were created on my hour-long train rides with my father always featuring creative business ideas and heart-centered conversations with a mission to serve others. I like to call us soulprenuers; the entrepreneurs of the world with a God-given purpose greater than ourselves. A typical train ride would entail members of all walks of life, from the millionaire stockholders on Wall Street to the struggling artists with dreams greater than their finances can support and overworked college students with loans large enough to put even Donald Trump in debt. I knew I had a purpose to share my story in hopes of bringing healing to others and to use my voice to make it happen.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I was not always the spiritually confident person you see today. I have always been a free spirit but had to fight to break free from the chains of bondage and fear. I could hear my father’s voice reminding me that “I am the best,” but that voice was easily muzzled by criticism, insults and manipulation. The core of who I am was always challenged by individuals threatened by who God created me to be. I began to doubt myself, my abilities, and even question my many aspirations. As I began soul searching, I rebelliously found God outside of the realms of religion.

When you find God you also find the truth, the core of who you are and courage. I’ve learned to use negativity and the attacks from others as logs to fuel my fire. I’ve learned that every struggle is one of God’s hidden agendas used to set you on a platform for change. As I strengthened my voice I discovered I had a superpower: the ability to help transform others into the best version of themselves, the ability to help others become relentlessly who they are, to free spirits out of the shell, and to help fine-tune their voice for the world to hear.

I had a mission to be the inspiration, encouragement and a safe place for God’s creations to express themselves just as they were designed to be. Authenticity is infectious, transparency is healing, and living your truth by connecting with our creator is power.

Confidence is not the absence of insecurity but the ability to go for it even in its presence. It’s not about me, it’s about the women out there who need me!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Serenity Inspires – what should we know?
Serenity Inspires stems from my most favorite prayer:
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.” -Reinhold Niebuhr

The serenity prayer has helped me in every area of my life and is my daily motto for inspiration. I am a life purpose and spiritual confidence coach. I often compare myself to a fitness trainer; instead of exercising the body we are exercising the mind and soul. I challenge my clients to discover their God-given purpose, create their vision, and make it happen with “godfidence!”

I am most proud of my love, acceptance, and judgment-free business model which opens doors to all religions. God is our main source and how others decide to connect with our creator is completely up to them. I am just one of his instruments designed to help them through their unique path.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
During the darkest moments of my life, I battled with severe anxiety and depression. I’ve spent many nights crying during prayer while asking God to help me. I didn’t know that God was going to bless me with such a beautiful spirit; my husband and best friend. My husband is my biggest fan and best supporter. He helped me become the strong confident woman I am today. He believed in me and taught me how to believe in myself by removing the shades to allow my light to shine brighter. Together we have made 3 beautiful children who are also my biggest cheerleaders. I am superwoman in their eyes and love was the only requirement in order to earn that title.

I can honestly say my critics were my biggest motivators. I humorously call them my employees, I use their words designed to hurt me to instead help me. When I hear “You can’t” I immediately translate those words to my heart as “I can”. They have helped me discover the true pain points of the world and have blessed me with ammunition to attack the source of destruction head on. I am on a mission to live life with purpose while helping others, thanks to my creator.
