Meet Shaun Savage of GoShare in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaun Savage.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Shaun. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve been starting businesses since I was a little kid. Some were cliches like a lemonade stand and a lawn mowing business. Others were more creative like the movie theater and carnival that I built in my bedroom and charged admission for. My little sisters were my two best (and only) customers. In high school, my friends and I started a roller hockey league which may have broke even. In college, it was a house painting business and a lot of hard lessons.

Over the last four years, I’ve been working on GoShare. The idea is to use technology to make it easier to connect people who own trucks with people who need help moving, hauling or delivering large items. In order to get to this point, it required years of hard work, learning, dedication and sacrifice. We wouldn’t be here without the support of my family, our employees, friends, investors and mentors who believed in our vision.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, anything but smooth. A rollercoaster is more accurate. If you have a weak stomach you may not last. There are new struggles every day. Some are bigger than others. You have to be prepared to deal with customers, employees, regulations, insurance, legal and many other obstacles that will come your way.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the GoShare story. Tell us more about the business.
GoShare is a software company that specializes connecting truck and van owners with people and businesses who need help delivering large items on demand. We use proprietary mobile and web applications to make it faster, cheaper and easier to access a fleet of trucks and delivery professionals.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
The harder I work the luckier I seem to be.
