Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelley Sass.
Shelley, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been transforming interiors since 2000, and have personally had the exciting opportunity of overseeing the building of two of my very own family homes over the last 10 years, one in Australia and the other in San Diego. I have a valued team of trusted and reliable tradespeople that I work with on a continued basis.
Born in South Africa, I have lived around the world and this has been a key influence in the eclectic, textural, cozy and delightful look that I am known for. Inspired by my mother and grandmother, both exceptionally talented seamstresses, I was creative from a very young age, and have always had a love for decor, fashion and art. I have studied Interior Design and Fashion Design in South Africa, Australia and San Diego, and as a result have developed a passion for design from different cultures and eras. I started out in the Fashion Design arena where I owned and operated my own business in South Africa for many years. After immigrating to San Diego, I experienced a brief stint in the corporate world working for Nextel Communications. Whilst loving the company, after a few years, my creativity took over and I was drawn back into the design world, but this time with Interiors.
Today Shelley Sass Designs is a full-service Interior Design, Remodeling and Home Staging firm, assisting clients worldwide with a wide variety of home improvement related issues including: collaborating with builders, selection of furniture, fabric, lighting, accessories, flooring and window treatments, re-upholstery, space planning, 3D rendering and designing custom pieces.
My mission is all about creating spaces that are beautifully pleasing both aesthetically and practically. I want every space that I play a part in to be truly loved by its owner. I want my clients to walk into their homes and feel pride, contentment and pure joy! The results of my work should enable each individual’s style to emerge into a design that will inspire and promote their well-being.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a relatively smooth road and I really can’t complain. Of course it’s been a lot of hard work and in the beginning quite frustrating whilst building the business, but nothing good ever comes easy. I’m a firm believer that hard work, persistence and dedication always pays off, and that has definitely been the case with me. What you put in you will always get out. I tell that to my children and I tell that to anyone starting a new business.

Shelley Sass Designs is a full-service Interior Design, Remodeling and Home Staging firm.
I am exceptionally customer oriented, and nothing is ever too much for me. I’m only happy when my clients are happy and will not stop until they are. I work hard to go the extra mile, and I am efficient, reliable and dependable. I return all phone calls, emails or texts personally within 24 hours. I fully emerse myself into each and every job that I take on, and I partner with my clients each step of the way. I guide my clients through the entire concept, design and installation process, reducing their stress associated with these projects. I spend many hours every week learning and educating myself about new products and design ideas, and keeping up to date with the most current trends. I am all about satisfying and retaining customers, and the biggest compliment I can get is referrals from past clients. Personal attention and attention to detail is what my clients can expect, and that is exactly what they get.
I believe that all of the above sets me apart from the rest.

Success to me looks like this:
