Meet Skyler Woodworth of West Coast Fit in North Pacific Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Skyler Woodworth.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Skyler. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Though I never was an elite athlete destined for the pros, I always had an affinity for sports. I found that when I was active and involved with sports, I was healthy, fit, and happy.

It wasn’t until I moved to San Diego and started my corporate sales job that I realized how much office life wasn’t for me. At that point, people in my office started to work out with me and ask me for guidance. Granted, most of it was wrong, but I was happy to help them out!

Finally, I had enough of the desk job. I thought about a profession I could be successful and wear mesh shorts on a regular basis.. and, of course, how I can help people and impact their lives in a positive way.

And then, it hit me, become a personal trainer. I got certified, got a job at a small studio and soaked in all the nuances of the industry, and then, ventured out into my own. I started by doing mobile training at homes and in parks and eventually opened my first studio. I have since moved and expanded and couldn’t be happier!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, the road has been fairly smooth. I was careful in not biting off more than I could chew and strategically grew at a comfortable pace, knowing I was in it for the long haul.

There have been many daunting and questionable moments. And there continue to be constant adjustments and learning experiences, but that’s part of what makes it so rewarding and challenging.

I do my best to keep things in perspective and I have found enjoyment in the grind. Its always going to be a grind, so might as well do something you love!

Please tell us about West Coast Fit.
My business specializes in 1-on-1 personal training. Unlike gyms and boot camps, you get a virtual private gym all to yourself. The environment is welcoming and clean. The workout is customized 100% towards your goals. All you have to do is show up and work hard!

We also offer small group training at a more affordable cost. These classes are more like a personal training session than a large boot camp as they are capped out at 5 to a class.

We’re also very dog-friendly too if you have a little sidekick to bring along. Cats, too. Anything really, but let’s do not get too weird! Ok… iguanas are as far as it goes!

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Probably sleepovers and pizza parties. Now, it’s just pizza parties and no sleepovers. In fact, most of the time, people don’t even attend my pizza parties.

  • Personal Training: $60/session
  • Small Group Training: $200/month (12 classes)
