Meet Slong Danglr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Slong Danglr. Him and his team share his story with us below.

Please kick things off for us with some background on the story.
Government name is Watane Davis, stage name Slong Danglr a.k.a. (SD) is a 28-year-old San Diego based rapper. Slong Danglr has been recording music since he was 16. At that age, his older brother had just got out of prison and he and his younger brother would have ciphers, Rap and make music with other upcoming artists in the area. Not too much later, the brothers formed themselves into a rap group named @TheRoyalClubb. Besides his brothers, he is heavily influenced by Suga Free, E-40 and Dj-quick. Slong Danglr has performed at venues in San Diego such as Queen Bee’s, The Merrow, World Beat Center, Brick By Brick, and more using his platform to gain fans from all over. Slong Danglr moved to Indianapolis, Indiana late 2014 and moved back to Daygo in 2016. With a background in graphic design in college, Slong Danglr can also create cover art which he also does for his projects. Slong blends the borders of Underground Rap coming up with his own style of free-styling called R.A.P (Rhythm & Poetry). Negativity hasn’t slowed him down a bit, realizing music is his passion. SD said to us during our interview, “I don’t know where to start Uh, check it out, music is my total existence, straight up Everything with my life revolves around music It’s like… you can’t get into a relationship with… I’m still with… my first love which is music You’know’what’I’m’sayin’?, fo’real.” California is only putting fuel to his fire becoming a well-known talent throughout Southern California. Between his love of writing, recording and releasing music. Also, enjoys sharing his thoughts and seeing how people react to his creative ideas. He also likes performing and was told, “If your live performance isn’t any good, then your music won’t matter at all.”

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Yes, but the only trouble I find is, no trouble you have to keep a positive mindset at all times.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I make all types of music, I sing, rap, rock, smooth. Slong Danglr teaching kids about safe sex.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Taking over the San Diego music scene.
