Meet Stacy Roby of The Roby Company Real Estate Brokerage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Roby.

Hi Stacy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Life is but a personal journey of many experiences. I believe that how you respond to those experiences sets the tone for the adventure. As a native California girl, my adventure started in the 60’s. Family life was turbulent, and we moved around to many places in East County San Diego. What was stable was the nurturing and motivational love from my teachers. Even with the chaos at my house, I was a good student. The early structure and support from my teachers became my beacon and my guiding light. My teachers urged me to pursue education and because of them, I made it my goal to attend college. Their influence played a major role in shaping my future.

From the time I left home at sixteen, my life had many bumps (sometimes more like potholes) in the road. The light in my life has not always been bright. Like a ship offshore in a stormy sea searching for the safety of a lighthouse on shore, what kept me going was hope and my tenacious pursuit of a better life.  As a single parent, I knew that the only way I was going to be able to provide for my family was to go to college. My dream of higher education started at Mesa and Grossmont Community Colleges. Once I started classes, I forgot how much I LOVED learning!  The path I followed was not easy, but I eventually achieved my childhood goal of earning my degree from San Diego State University (SDSU). After earning my Liberal Studies degree and Teacher Credential from SDSU, I entered the workforce as an elementary school teacher.  I continued my education earning a Master’s Degree in Special Education from National University and my Administrative Education Credential from California State University, San Marcos. Not only  am I  a firm believer that “Education is the Key to Freedom”, I am and continue to be the perfect example of the successes one can achieve as a life-long learner.

My career path changed in 1998 when I met  my partner in life, Keith Roby. He was then the sole broker and owner of The Roby Company real estate brokerage. In addition to all the things we had in common, Keith was impressed with my personal and professional successes. He eventually not only encouraged me to get my real estate license, but also helped me pay for the exam and its associated fees. In 2001, I left my career in education and opened First Rate Lending. As a residential and multi-unit lending company, we helped both prospective home owners and investors finance their real estate purchases.

After our daughter was born in 2006, I joined Keith to work with our real estate clients full-time. Today, I constantly seek to further my own knowledge about real estate, technology, customer service, and anything else I believe will help me serve my clients better. I’m extremely detail-oriented and a bit of a tech geek as well – I love combining these two aspects of my personality to deliver an unparalleled real estate experience for my clients. Whether it’s effectively marketing a listing, helping a family negotiate to buy their dream home, or getting elbow-deep with Keith in investment calculations such as NOI, cash-on-cash and cap rates – we get the market.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I began using my favorite app in Evernote in 2011. What I love about Evernote is that it is web-based and I can access it on my mobile phone, iPad and computer.  I use it to organize and to create systems to keep my projects on task. Another app I really enjoy and utilize daily is the Google suite of apps. My business is run on a Google domain platform. Google photos is my favorite because I can easily access all my photos that I take on my phone.  Music is a big part of my life, so Spotify has become my go-to listening app. Spotify suggested playlists based upon the songs I listen too, and I can make playlists with my favorite songs.
