Meet Stephania Bonilla Salas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephania Bonilla Salas.

Hi Stephania, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My family and I came to the US back in 2005, my parents wanted a better life for my sister and I. When we arrived, everything was new to me. I was scared, I was in a new country where I couldn’t understand any English. When I started school, I had a lot of trouble understanding my classes, many times I had to stay after school to catch up on homework and projects. It was difficult, but that didn’t stop me from trying my best. My parents didn’t have a lot of money and I knew it was hard for them to put food on the table and a roof over our heads. I wanted to make my parents proud and be able to help them financially. My father was a Dj since 1986 in Acapulco Mexico and he proceeded his career in the US. I loved helping my father prepare for nights when he would play. He would let me choose songs and we would sing along to Barry White. since the first time he let me help, I knew then that I wanted to be a DJ just like my father.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Things were not easy, having to learn a new language, make new friends, pretty much start a new life. It has also been hard being a woman in the DJ industry, not many people believed women can also be DJs.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a proud DJ; I love to make people happy and with music, I am able to deliver happiness to them. My goal is to make special events a memorable day for my clients.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success for me would be being able to provide for my family. help them retire and give them the life they deserve.
