Meet Stephanie Mantiply of JAM Photography in Temecula (Riverside County)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Mantiply.

Stephanie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My passion for art all started with a photography class I took in high school. I quickly realized how much I loved capturing moments, learning about light and learning to expose photos in the darkroom. One of the biggest pleasures that photography brings to me is when I’m able to capture emotion in my photos, I enjoy viewing the photos and embracing the emotions they spark. This became even more prevalent when I started my own family. Like any new mother, I wanted to capture every single “first” that my children experienced. As my children grew, as well as my passion for photography, digital photography became the new technology. Due to this shift to digital, I had to learn and grow and teach myself. I engaged in as many learning opportunities as possible, watching online “how-to’s”, taking many classes and practicing quite a bit. With my new found knowledge and passion ever growing, I started my small family owned business JAM Photography. (JAM is the initial’s of all three of my kids.)

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As with starting any new business, there have some challenging opportunities. The most challenging aspect of starting a new business is juggling the responsibilities that come with the business, as well as maintaining time and focus for my personal commitments. As I have continued this journey, I have learned quite well how to juggle all the many hats of being an amazing wife, loving mother, and a successful small business owner. I focus energy on managing my time efficiently to maintain balance and ensuring all aspects of my journey are well represented in my daily life.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the JAM Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
JAM Photography specializes in capturing the family experience, with a focus on producing top-notch family portraits. Photo sessions are held in a variety of settings, from outdoors to traditional home settings. During all sessions, my focus is continuously on ensuring all family members feel comfortable, can be themselves, and thoroughly enjoy the experience. I encourage them to interact naturally with one another while I capture who they really are as a family. When families see their portraits, they always tell me how they could feel the loving emotion and warm comforts of their family through the photos.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t really believe in “luck” I do believe that success is achieved through hard work, dedication and a passion for what you do.
