Meet Stuart Tomc of CV Sciences

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stuart Tomc

Stuart, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In the spring of 1984, I was introduced to wheatgrass juice and was soon working at Sherwyn’s health food store in Chicago. My boss went on to become the product formulator for Now Foods and I went on to pioneer oregano oil with North American Herb and Spice (NAHS) and Dr. Cass Ingram. In 2006 I joined Nordic Naturals to teach people how to correct the global omega-3 deficiency. We exposed the lie that unlimited omega-6 is good for human health and dethroned multivitamins as the best selling dietary supplement.

One day in 2013 I consumed my first taste of hemp CBD extract and discovered a well-being that has evaded me most of my life. In 2013 I joined CV Sciences to pioneer the emerging CBD market and penetrate the natural products industry. Today PlusCBD products are available in nearly 2000 health food stores. My life is my dream come true. I get the privilege of easing the suffering of others and that is why I claim to “never have a bad day in my life!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The personal breakthroughs started when I began taking responsibility for my actions.

Saying the words out loud “I am wrong” became empowering. I struggled and still do with ego and fear, however, my struggles informed me about the awesome power of being powerless.

I learned to appreciate ego deflation and how the challenges in my life made me more aware of others. What did not kill me did make me stronger. The details matter less and less to me over time about any particular situation because I focus on what “I am wrong” about and less than what others do or do not do.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My first mentor on this path was Karyn Calabrese, founder of Kary’s raw foods in Chicago Illinois. She loved me when I did not know how to love myself, she rebuilt me from the ground up.

-Dr. Ingram founder of North American Herb and Spice showed me how one human being can influence millions of people to change. He also taught me how to be an engaging public speaker and radio show guest.

-Sara Syed and I worked together at Nordic Naturals. We built a professional symbiotic relationship to leverage our strengths and weakness. Together we accomplished more than we could have ever done alone, we have more power together than alone. We still work together and hope to teach others how to cultivate mutually beneficial working relationships in the workplace.

-Hector Lopez, MD taught me the nuances of nuances and to resist oversimplifications.

-Aimee Gould Shunney, ND taught me about “radical self-care.”

-Michael Lewis MD from the Brain Health Education and Research Insitute demonstrated that service is the rent we pay for our time on earth.

-Tava Tomc my life partner and wife for more than 20 years is my biggest cheerleader.

She also takes care of the majority of our duties allowing me to live more than half of my life on the road. She is the secret sauce, she is remarkable.

-Epictetus (the slave stoic) 55-135 AD reminds me that all external events are out of my control

-Friedrich Nietzche 1844-1900 inspired me to find meaning from my psyche and not the outside world.

-Robert SapolskyPh.D. (born 1957) helped me understand the biology of behavior and why we should not judge human behavior it in isolation.

-Edward Witten Ph.D. (born 1951) inspires me to keep studying the “Theory of Everything.”
