Meet Taylor Solorzano of Make Me Blush

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Solorzano.

Taylor, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Since a I was a little girl, I’ve always taken an interest in hair & makeup. I was queen of the butterfly clips in elementary (I would wear like 40 clips in my hair every day to school), and I started to sneak my Grandma’s eyeliner & mascara in the fifth grade.

After finishing high school, I attended Cosmetology school in Hesperia, California. It was soon after I realized my passion was make-up artistry, and immediately dove right in. I initially started working out for a brow bar (Benefit). Shortly after, I moved to San Diego, and got hired at MAC cosmetics. I worked there for 5 years and grew as an artist. It was such an amazing platform for me to learn new techniques and perfect my craft. I met so many inspiring talented artists. After that position, I became a Beauty Stylist at Nordstrom, helping me to learn more about different brands, and skincare.

In 2015, had gotten married, and was expecting my second child. I went on maternity leave, and the location I had worked at for so long had closed down. I took it as a sign to go out on my own and focus on what I truly love about makeup, the artistry and the people I get to meet. Not focusing on sales goals. I get to be there for some of the most important events in their life, it’s an honor! And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love weddings?! I secretly wish I was a florist or a baker.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Struggles along the way are finding a balance. I’m everything in this business. I’m the secretary, accountant, the artist, the head of marketing, etc…

I love it though. I love being hands on and seeing my vision come to life.

Please tell us about Make Me Blush.
Make me Blush specializes in bridal beauty. We are known for our artistry. I think what sets us apart from others is our clean, structured, and fresh approach to makeup. I’m all about clean lines, glowy skin. Very much a perfectionist when it comes to brows & eyeliner.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would’ve started sooner. I get to spend so much more time with my children, which I can never get back.

I’ve met so many amazing and encouraging people along the way. It means so much to me when people love my artistry and trust me to help them feel beautiful on their wedding day.
