Meet Tia Kelly a local Encinitas coach with a Global business

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia Kelly.

Tia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up traveling and living all over the world with my seven siblings and our parents, who had decided to “unschool” us for the most part. They wanted their children to be citizens and students of the world. “to get an education in life” I guess they achieved that vision.

I was born in India, I have an Irish passport, US residency, a Lebanese husband and a French bulldog. 😉 And despite calling Encinitas home, my clients tend to be local and completely international as well. Women come to me from Australia, Israel, Europe, the middle east and North America. I love that about my work. I wouldn’t have it any other way! And I get to do it from one of the prettiest places on the planet.

When I was young, if I wasn’t in a bustling city or the wilderness of some remote land, then I was on my family’s Organic farm in the Irish countryside, with lots of time to read, meditate and get to know myself. It’s impossible to grow up like that and not possess a broad, out-of-the-box perspective. I’ve always had a deep curiosity about people, a desire to understand, problem-solve and to be of service. All of which helped me be the Coach that I am today.

The coaching world is exploding. Which is really exciting to see! When I started out, no one even knew what coaching was.

for anyone interested in entering this line of service, I think it’s important to have done and continue doing the work on yourself before you can be super effective at helping others. I also feel it’s important to get properly trained and certified as a professional coach before jumping into the “how to sell and market yourself online” phase. That seems a bit backward these days.

Has it been a smooth road?
Coaching as a profession was definitely a perfect fit for my personality and background.

But in the beginning, there was a lot of room for self-doubt. When you know how bad you are in comparison to say, your own master coaches and teachers, it’s really hard to trust yourself to be the life-changing catalyst that you’re supposed to be for someone else.

One of my favorite teachers used to say “Anything worth doing, is worth doing badly in the beginning” So I clung to that, and stuck with it until the sheer number of hours and session under my belt created a kind of second nature.

A natural flow around what to ask next to elicit my clients highest genius. Now I simply tune in, ask great questions and hold a powerful space for them to really shine, and be the real experts in their own lives, which is what coaching is all about.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Tia Kelly Coaching story. Tell us more about the business.
I have been blessed with gathering and guiding individuals and global communities of women who change the world!

By being a part of my Epic sisterhood mastermind or going through my Epic Life Maps program women become empowered to take action. They commit to themselves to gain the clarity, confidence, and courage to take their leap. Intensive coaching combined with the supportive power of sisterhood helps women believe in themselves and make their creative dreams and soul-callings a reality.

My clients listen to and lead from their hearts. Which I feel is what the world needs now more than ever. I’m known for creating strong sisterhoods that support each woman to recognize and step into her individual greatness and to contribute that to the world.

Outside of my group programs I support a handful of women each year through one on one private coaching. Regarding my work, I’m most proud of a nonprofit that I co-founded called Global Sorority. It delivers leadership and self-development programs to young women in the developing world.

Global Sorority also shares these young women’s voices through a documentary series about their lives. Creating awareness and solution focused dialog around gender, leadership, and our world today. If anyone out there is interested in facilitating a film circle I’d love to hear from them!

Where do you see your industry going over the next 5-10 years?  Any big shifts, changes, trends, etc?
I remember when I finished my training I was so blown away by the power coaching had to totally open up and launch your life. None of us leaving coaching school that year could understand why everyone wasn’t aware of it and utilizing it. I think there is a misconception out there that you either have to be at rock-bottom and need someone else to fix your life before you seek out a coach, or you’re a high-level CEO.

In fact, Coaching is for anyone willing to create more of what they really want in life, no matter their current situation. I think Coaching is going to go totally mainstream in the next 10 years. The more people who get to experience it, the more lives that are changed and expanded, the more people you hear talking about what a huge positive shift it made for them, the more others will want to try it for themselves. And before you know it, everyone will have a coach and the world will be a better place!
