Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Cheng.
Hi Tiffany, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
First things first. I love food. I have always enjoyed trying new foods and checking out different restaurants wherever I go. Aside from eating, I also have a love for baking and cooking. My food journey on Instagram began after I graduated college in 2019. I wanted a place to document the places I have been too, foods I ate, and things I have made. I was originally writing Yelp reviews and decided to branch out (I am still a Yelp Elite / writing reviews on there). During the pandemic is when I started baking and cooking more. I tried many new recipes, modified recipes to make them my own, and learned to elevate my food photography to produce drool-worthy content. What I love about having this outlet is that I get to connect with others around the world who also have a passion for food. The page became an inspiration for others to bake/cook as well as try out new restaurants when they are in the area. I got to where I am today thanks to my friends and others who have come along with me on this journey. Thank you to anyone who has followed me!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the beginning, the page was just solely for documentation. I began to learn more about being a food influencer/photographer and started growing my page. Running this page requires more than just taking photos and posting them. It requires a lot of time to coordinate with brands/restaurants, set up the photoshoot, take the photos/videos, brainstorm creative ideas for the shoot, edit, create the post, and engage with my audience. Since I currently do have a full-time job, I spend my nights and weekends creating content to post throughout the week. The struggle I currently have is trying to keep up with the new algorithm. I am playing around with different concepts to see what works and does not work. I have decided to branch out and post content on TikTok as well. Aside from posting on social media, I have also picked up a few gigs to produce photo content for brand/restaurant websites and their social media for promotion. I have enjoyed producing this type of content as well since I love photography and enjoy being creative with that. It’s a great feeling to be recognized for my work.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I was born, raised, and currently reside in San Francisco, California. Most of my content in relations to restaurants is about places in the San Francisco / Bay Area. I also post about restaurants and places I have been too when I travel. I specialize in food photography and creation of digital content. I am proud of how far I came with my account and the cool brands that I get to work with – small and big. My page has a variety of different food content and is not limited to just restaurant reviews. As mentioned, I also bake and cook. I have been getting into latte art and making aesthetic drinks too. I’m happy that I get to do this on my free time. During the day, I am a full-time bridge engineer – I am very proud of this accomplishment and all of the cool things I get to work on.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I have learned to treasure any time I get with my family and friends. I have also picked up all of the fun TikTok trends like Dalgona and have had the chance to try out many new recipes online.
