Meet Tiffany Jane of Tiffany Jane & The Kicks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Jane.

Tiffany, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a singer/songwriter/vocal coach/blogger/vlogger/lover of expressions of art. I started off my career at 4 years old touring in a musical called “Reunion”. My background continued in musical theatre in such venues as The Old Globe & The La Jolla Playhouse. From there I went onto college at The Musicians Institute in Hollywood CA to earn my degree in Vocal Performance. There I found my love for soul music, songwriting, & vocal training.

After college, I went onto write my debut album “Love Stories”, become a coach on MTV’s MADE (episode “Kenna”), open for Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, co-write my latest album “Discovery” available on iTunes, & most recently added to Pandora… I love music. At a risk of sounding trite or maybe even dramatic (who me? never.) it’s my breath, heart, my livelihood, & all I know. Music is ever-changing in my life. I think as artists, heck even as human beings, we are in a constant state of growth & learning. On my journey of life through music I have discovered the sound I feel most connected to, found an interest in facilitating the same discovery of others art (no matter the form), & aiding the formation of other singers building blocks in finding their voice.

New to me is blogging and vlogging. So bear with me while my learning will be ever so prevalent, but I feel led to create this so I hope that passion helps soften the rough edges of my introduction into this new part of the world. My blog/vlog will be focused on exposing people, places, & talents that may not have a platform or perhaps they do but I’d just like to celebrate them in addition with the rest of the world. Anywhere from album reviews, interviews with artists, random thoughts, tips, videos, etc. Expressing my gratitude towards where I find beauty along the path of me living in my lil’ world.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth? Haha. No, I don’t think that’s a word I would use to describe my journey. However, it certainly hasn’t been allllll uphill. I’ve experienced trouble with my image… I could go on and on about how passionately I feel that image shouldn’t have anything to do with artistry but I’ll save you from my tired rant. I’ve also been denied huge opportunities half way down the process due to my (now) dormant epilepsy. One of my biggest struggles is balancing being a leader of my bang whilst working with friends and some of my favorite people. I’m told I tend to “be too nice”. It’s a tough balance of wanting everyone to have a great time and requiring our best as a collective. And last but by NO means least (in fact probably my biggest struggle) is sticking to my guns on the music I feel led to create and not stemming away for a possibility of bigger success. That may mean I never “make it” but every day I remind myself authenticity is more valuable than confirming for a dollar… even if it’s lots of those dollars…. even though I could use a few of those. Haha.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Tiffany Jane & The Kicks story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m the singer/songwriter of Tiffany Jane & The Kicks. We are a new soul/jazz/r&b San Diego based band. We play in all different formations duo-8 piece depending on the project. We are self-produced, self-managed, and write our own material. We are made up of all full-time musicians. It was a journey to find people who wanted to create and had a passion for the type of music I heard in my head but I’m lucky to have found them.

What am I most proud of? Our recent original singles we have released on YouTube. Each time we are closer and closer to our sound.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Lucky to be able to have my passion be my career!
