Meet Tim Wirick of Brick in Point Loma

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Wirick.

Tim, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Why is it that when you start planning a wedding, you magically get to a $30,000 cost? We kept asking ourselves that question and uncovered something magical – the perfect wedding doesn’t have to cost this much! BRICK was founded to give creativity, flexibility and budget control back to the client. Personalization in the wedding industry is on the rise and we like to think that we are at the center of this trend. It is increasingly more important to have the most important day of our lives speak to who we are as people and who we will be as a married couple.

With deep roots in the wedding industry, our team at BRICK has decades of experience ranging from photography to coordination. We have thousands of weddings under our belts and because of our success at BRICK, we decided to take our business model national and now have 4 locations around the United States. Our parent company, 828 Venue Management Company, is focused on replicating BRICK’s success around the country and we won’t stop until we have innovated the wedding industry from top to bottom. It has been unchanged for the last 100 years and we are here to shake it up.

The 828 model is focused on eliminating the “wedding factory” and giving each client the ability to create an event that is unlike any that were previously hosted at our locations. We have experienced all the nonsense of the events industry such as: no hard alcohol, no red wine (what!?), no parking, no early load-in, no next day load-out, no using vendors outside an ‘exclusive’ list, no loud music, no outdoor space, no indoor space, no dancing the night away with all your favorite people because last call is at 9:45 PM. No, no, no, no! At an 828 venue, “yes” is way more common than “no”.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Is anything ever smooth? If creating a business were easy, you wouldn’t see 9 out of 10 fails in the first 5 years. Creating a company from the ground up isn’t a walk in the park. Overcoming challenges every day is the norm and testing your limits occurs constantly. The euphoria and making clients happy is why we sign up for the challenge!

You know you’re on to something when everywhere you turn people are saying “You can’t do that. We’ve always done it this way and no one is going to like what you’re doing.” That gave us the fuel to really understand what makes the wedding industry tick and how we could flip it inside out.

Because we host a variety of events, we are presented with any and all obstacles, questions, complications, glitches, and headaches. Each of our employees has an active and noticeable role in our company and they work together as a team to overcome these challenges. Our team gets better each and every day and we are always learning.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Brick – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are proud that we’ve created a company that is transforming an industry on a national scale. From the client hosting their event, to the vendors making things possible everyone enjoys being a part of this company. We strive to put the client and their guests first and we see tremendous success because we care so much for the customer experience. Every event matters deeply to us – no matter how big or small!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Taking over the world, one event, city, state, and country at a time.

We are currently operating venues in San Diego, Denver, Indianapolis and Seattle, with no plans to slow down.
