Meet Trailblazer Ana Gomez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Gomez.

Ana is a freelance journalist who currently works for Frontera Newspaper. She is a journalism graduate from Southwestern College and San Diego State University. She started her career as a journalist in 2008 working at The Sun Newspaper. And since 2010, she started her career as a binational journalist working for Frontera Newspaper. In 2015, she started her career as a blogger by creating the “I really really love” blog with the idea to share fashion, beauty, travel and lifestyle tips. I really really love currently has a reach of over 50,000 followers on Instagram and over 1 million followers on Facebook through a weekly video series with international newspaper, Frontera. Most of the posts are written in English and Spanish, with the main audience being the United States followed by Mexico. The blog collaborations include brands like Urban Decay Cosmetics, Bobbi Brown, Marc Jacobs Beauty, Mary Kay, Fascinating Diamonds, Neiman Marcus, Hotel Festival Plaza, and many more. Since 2015 until today, she manages her agenda as journalist and blogger, while making daily content for her social media and at the same time writing for the newspaper she works for about the events she gets invited for her blog like New York Fashion Week.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely took me some time to be in the place I’m right now. I realized that making the time for my blog was something I needed to do, to make it good. The time investment was something that I struggled with at the beginning since I was a full-time journalist. But after becoming a freelance journalist in 2016, that helped me to make more time for my blog and that gave me amazing results. I was already invited to New York Fashion Week as a blogger, and have been invited to so many exciting events like Ipsy Gen Beauty event in Los Angeles, Coachella parties filled with celebrities and so much more that makes great content for my blog. I encourage young girls and women to pursue their passion, as I said in a recent panel: “It was hard work and doing everything I could to reach my goals, what made it possible to my blog and career to succeed. I have been invited to parties with Paris Hilton in Beverly Hills, and that’s something I always wanted to do. So, everything is possible if you dream it and pursue it.”

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about I really really love blog – what should we know?
I started my blog as a hobby to share my personal style with my friends. And it turned out into a business and a way to share my personal style with people all over the world. I’m really proud of the way my blog has evolved, I can now share posts about fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and travel in exactly the way I dreamed. What I like the most is that my life as a journalist and blogger goes together, and it wasn’t like that in the beginning.

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
I think social media, particularly Instagram and YouTube is a new way for women to pursue their passions and make it into a business. This new technology helps everyone reach more people in a very easy way as never before, and there are so many great female role models who have taking advantage of this and there is still space for more cool women to rule.
