Meet Trailblazer Dr. Natasha Hastings DPT, CSCS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Natasha Hastings DPT, CSCS.

Dr. Hastings, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been practicing physical therapy for 7 years, and finally got tired of working for the big corporations and not being able to give people quality care, so I decided to develop my own mobile Physical therapy/strength & conditioning business. I have a passion for health & fitness, specializing in athletics/higher-end training.

Right now, I am a mobile business, meaning I come to you, whether it’s at your house, the gym, or even the beach. In the near future, I am planning to move into a gym setting where clients can come and receive physical therapy, and/or strength & conditioning coaching.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a challenging road and still is since my business is still young. One thing is for sure though, and that is when the momentum starts you have to keep up with it and steer that momentum in the right direction.

I have to do a lot of marketing, on top of working full time in order to generate revenue for my business that is my current side hustle.

My advice is to seek mentors and to not be afraid to talk to people. You have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.

I’ve sought advice/mentors through C3 church and their marketing/entrepreneur groups, going to classes and asking questions, and reaching out to people by phone/email/in person. I’m also fine when someone doesn’t respond to me, I don’t get sad when I hear no. I just keep plugging away, there’s plenty of people out there to learn from.

We’d love to hear more about Athletic Edge Physical Therapy, Inc.
I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in orthopedics and sports injuries. I also am a certified strength & conditioning coach. This is like a personal trainer, but I have learned advanced techniques for athletes and specializing their programs throughout all parts of their season. This doesn’t mean you have to be an athlete on a team, you can be a weekend warrior, an avid Spartan competitor, or just have general fitness goals and I can help you reach them.

I am most proud of setting goals to attain my CSCS and starting a business this year (2019) and I did it. I had a lot of support from my husband, family, & friends which has helped a lot.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
I found my mentors by asking around. Whether it’s through the Facebook, church, Instagram, attending continuing education courses, and just speaking up to people.

I am not afraid to ask questions and love learning which has helped me a lot.
