Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenica Martin.
Jenica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Hi! I’m originally from Northern California, Walnut Creek. I moved down to San Diego for college and attended California State University San Marcos where I majored in Communication. I’m fiercely independent and ever since I was little I have truly loved to work and have had an entrepreneurial spirit. I used to love to make lemonade stands in my neighborhood, as I got older, I started babysitting a ton and loved the idea of having my own babysitters club. I looked forward to taking your daughter to work day every year with my dad. I also had an aunt who actually managed a property rental company, she who would take me to her office with her often, she put me to work and I loved it!
I started in the Real Estate business six and a half years ago. I worked for an equity group, my title was Investor Relations, however, I wore many hats. I did everything from small errands, handled escrows, assisted in raising capital, and ran our entire office. It was a brilliant way to learn all aspects of the industry, truly working from the ground up. Four years ago, my heart was calling to be an entrepreneur and full-time Realtor, and I haven’t looked back since.
Being a Real Estate agent allows me to not only run my own business but also positively affects peoples lives. There is nothing like making that call to my client to tell them congratulations their offer was accepted and then handing over the keys to their new home.
The first couple of years tested my perseverance, thankfully, I have a great support system and the mentality that I wasn’t going to give up. This last year, I have dedicated to myself to constantly read, listen to podcasts and audibles, I will tell you this is an absolute game changer. No matter your career, there will be many days that test you, it’s imperative to keep your focus, see the big picture and know that with hard work and being authentic to not only your craft but yourself nothing is impossible.
Has it been a smooth road?
No way! There were many times I didn’t think I was cut out for running my own business. For me, the biggest struggle is the fear of failure. I’m a planner so I can make up situations in my head of something that hasn’t even happened. That all has to be pushed out of your head, sure it’s going to happen here and there what is important is that you don’t think on it for long and move on-everything will work out. I’m a strong believer in the company you keep, surround yourself with fellow doers, friends and family who push you, believe in you and your mission, and you bring the same value to them. Read, read and read some more! If I’m driving, I’m almost always listening to audible, I read at least two books a month and listen to Real Estate podcasts to ensure I’m always working on my business. One of the favorite books is The Go Giver, some others The Energy Bus, 10x Rule, Can’t Hurt Me, Atomic Habit, The Most Powerful Woman in the Room Is You, You’re a Badass, I could go on and on.
Have a morning routine and stick to it, this goes for your schedule in general. Getting up early used to be hard for me, I listened to The Miracle Morning and little changes helped tremendously, I now get up early at the same time every day no problem. Write down ten things you’re thankful for every single morning and then tell someone about them. After a long day, I also like to end the day reflecting on what I’m grateful for. Meditate! Doesn’t have to be long I meditate for about two minutes in the morning. Take five seconds to breathe in hold for two seconds and exhale in eight seconds repeat four times. Make a vision board, I find the images for my board online and then print them so the images are very specific put your board up where you will see it daily. Lastly, the 5F letter, write a letter to your future self for the next year of everything you accomplished using the past tense, covering Faith, Family, Friends, Fitness, and Finances.

I’m a Real Estate Agent. I get the opportunity to help my clients buy their dream home or sell their home. I work with a ton of first time home buyers, it’s a special experience to assist someone with such a huge accomplishment.
I provide my clients with unmatched customer service. I have a team of hand-curated experts to provide you intelligent advice throughout a seamless transaction. I believe in empowering my clients through education and knowledge and through teamwork we will accomplish all of your Real Estate goals. We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
I believe there can be self-doubt, not knowing where to start and a lack of mentors. Every young girl should know there is to be no glass ceiling on what you can do and accomplish! Go and get it! GIRL POWER
