Meet Trailblazer Marti Montbleau

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marti Montbleau.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have had my ranch in Julian for 15 years and it has always been a special place for me and my family to spend time together. I had an idyllic childhood, raised on a horse farm in Michigan and I wanted my children to have a relationship with nature. Julian has always been my connection to the simplicity of country life that I experienced growing up.

I had the incredible opportunity to expand the mountaintop experience when the adjoining ranch became available. The property called to me and even though I was hesitant, I took a leap of faith and we expanded. I’ve always had a passion for creating spaces where families and friends can make lifetime memories together. From a solid vision and the support of creative people, Sacred Mountain was born.

It still touches me deeply when I see families gather and have unforgettable moments together. It’s a great reminder as to why we do what we do. When we hear and see the happiness that the mountain brings to people. It reminds us what is really important in this world, that is our connection to each other and our connection to the earth.

Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth isn’t a word that I would use to describe starting a new business. It has been fun, exhilarating, lots of ups and downs. In the end, it had a life of its own and wanted to happen. My biggest piece of advice is to follow both your heart and your head, and let things unfold as they should. Don’t force things. If you have to force thought or a vision, it probably isn’t what is meant to be. Some of the worst decisions I have made have been forced. And some of the best steps were made when I let things unfold and got out of my own way. Always come from gratitude for what the process is trying to teach you.

We’d love to hear more about Sacred Mountain.
I love to design and create spaces that you can feel nurtured in. Sacred Mountain brings together a sum total of all I’ve learned in my life where I can give back in ways that really fulfill me. I love projects where there is a need to breathe new life into. I give back most to the universe when I am being creative.

What sets us apart from others is that we are always striving to be in the authentic and coming from our hearts. It is not always the easiest path but it is the one that is most fulfilling.

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Be authentic and always in your integrity. Listen to your inner voice and strength, don’t listen to those who doubt your vision. To the world, it may look crazy but there is nothing more fulfilling than having a dream and making it happen. Be clear about what business you are and don’t try to do too much. Keep your ego out of it and create your vision for the right reasons. Have a beginners mind, ask questions, and take to heart when someone who has been there before wants to help you.
