Meet Trailblazer Nallely Leon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nallely Leon.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Professional makeup artist with over 4 years experience, currently freelance. I have always loved makeup, I remember hiding my foundation from my mom because she would only let me use mascara as a teen. After being a mom and suffering from postpartum depression, I decided to start my career. Going to beauty school really helped me much, my mind was busy and I was discovering an artistic part of me. After seeing my firsts client’s reactions to how they felt beautiful and loved my work. I knew I had fallen in love with this career, making a woman feel beautiful and elevating self-esteems is heartwarming. I have colaborated with many fashion designers in photoshoots, runways, and in RAW Queens in NYC. I still have a long road ahead, many things to learn, and goals to accomplish.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been easy, along the way I have wanted to give up. There were moments when people criticized my work, but I learned to take the good criticism and leave the bad ones out. I kept my flow and started gaining confidence in me. My advice is never to give up! Never! You might never know if you were one step away.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Mimi Makeup – what should we know?
Makeup artist, specializing in socials such as brides and quinceñeras. I love doing editorials because you let that creative side come out. I provide a high-end quality service from my products to my interaction with clients. I think interacting with clients is extremely helpful to find out their needs, besides, it makes your client feel comfortable.

Which women have inspired you in your life?
There are many women that inspire me, I could say Oprah Winfrey is my major inspiration as a woman. As a makeup artist, Paloma Romo born México, living in San Diego, CA. She’s an international Pro Makeup Artist who has worked with brands like MAYBELLINE NY, CHANEL, BOBBI BROWN and many more.
Participated in Fashion Week NY and Fashion Week Millan with designers as DKNY and Gucci. She’s my major inspiration in this industry, her work is over the top! I love each and every single of her editorials.
