Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Pisciotto.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Nicole. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My life as an artist at a very young age when a camera was put in my hands. Next began my life in the salon and spa business, many many moons ago. Soon after, I discovered yoga and have enjoyed the evolutionary path that this sacred practice provides. The concept for my spa and gallery is that it is a retreat & galley of Beauty and Wellness. From luxurious manicures and pedicures to energy/crystal healing sessions, sound healing sessions, life coaching, private yoga, workshops and my most recent creation of quarterly Creativity Gatherings we have a lil bit of something for everyone. After working in high-end salons for most of my career, it was the turning point in my life when I finished my yoga teacher training and began teaching that I knew I needed my own space and flowed into the process of creating that. I’m very fortunate to have my business located across the street from Pilgrimage Yoga where I’ve been teaching for the last 9 years. This past June, I celebrated my 8-year anniversary of Shanti Spa & Gallery in conjunction with the annual Art Around Adams event and what I notice as each year passes is my sense of gratitude for being able to offer all that we do in such a Vibrant Community.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’m not sure if it’s been a smooth road along the way as part of the human experience is having few road bumps. What I can say though is that I do feel very fortunate for the opportunities that have presented themselves to me that have aligned with my entrepreneurial spirit. Best advice I can give to young women is designed your own path, allow people to inspire you but not tell you what’s right for you and last but not least if you’ve got the entrepreneurial Spirit living inside of you that is real! It’s going to be in your best interest and your highest good to act on that and create your own reality of fulfillment and success.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Shanti Spa and Gallery – what should we know?
I feel like what sets me apart is the Integrity that was instilled in me at a young age. If you’re going to do something, you put your all into it, no laziness or half-assing it, LOL.
As far as what I do, I have the pleasure of having a dual career. Well, maybe it’s triple or quadruple. I run the spa and out of there I feature my artwork as well as perform my spa services and healing services. I also teach yoga and meditation in weekly classes, workshops, Retreats, and private sessions. What I’m most proud of is the level of showing up that I do in everything that I share and the way that I encourage others to do the same. Whether it’s going deep into that healing space in your yoga and meditation practice or it’s admitting to yourself that it’s time to get the healing treatment to free you of things that no longer serve or just a matter of making the time that you deserve to come in and get those pretty new toes via your pedicure ~ it’s all a matter of embracing self-love practices. And that’s what I love to promote & encourage.
Over the summer, I had my first Creativity Gathering at Shanti and am thrilled with launching this concept. Each season we’ll host a different artist along with a shift in concept, practitioners, pop up shop, local artisans, live performances, etc. Our next one is for the season of Autumn and it will be on Sunday 10.14.18 1:30 – 4 pm.
So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
I feel like women are well positioned to tap into their inner wisdom, know their strengths and create their own reality according to what their life path is. We have to be careful with media especially with all the photoshopping which I am completely not a fan of. Right now is truly a time of empowerment and there’s so many resources, organizations, and communities to help women move forward and step into their true potential. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of being led there or having the detective mindset to seek out and know that you can do whatever you want and be in a place of power and softness simultaneously.
