Meet Trailblazer Renee Dick

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Dick.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Renee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After I had my son was when it all changed. I was a hairstylist and spray tan technician throughout my pregnancy and shortly after my son was born. I loved working with women, talking to them, hearing their stories, making them feel beautiful and entertaining them was the highlight of my job. See what I did there? Although I loved it, the schedule wasn’t working for me. I had to make a change.

As a stay at home mom, I felt like I had this new title, the new life that I had to mold to, which led me to lose myself and my confidence. I started looking into fitness as a way to get my confidence back. With little resources, I just started doing what everyone was doing, and I hated it! I just figured fitness wasn’t for me, A couple of months passed and I knew I had to figure out a different way to do it. I educated myself on workouts and nutrition that were sustainable long term. That is where I found my confidence again! I was so proud of my new mindset and my body, if I’m being honest, ya girl likes having a cute butt! I knew I had to share this with other women that I can guarantee felt just like I did.

Through sharing my story, I have built the most amazing friendships on social media. I have grown those friendships by providing value, being relatable and staying true to my self.

Through those social media friendships, it led me to the Women In Business Workshop that I attended this year and that is what truly made the biggest change in my entire career. It was at that event that I knew starting a blog was what I was needed to do. I needed to recognize what I was called to do. My blog was created 1 week after that event. With the sole purpose of being the girlfriend, I wish I had. A resource for everything you never thought you needed. I take all the hard steps first, put myself out there, in hopes it will make your life easier and more entertaining.

This blog is just the start of my brand, the goals I have are way bigger than just me. I hope you all join in and enjoy every step of this crazy journey with Your Girlfriend Renee.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest struggle that I faced was my own mindset. The stories and lies I would tell myself were way harsher than anything anyone has ever told me. I started to feel like a fraud, who would want to hear what I have to say? I’m not interesting. I’ve never even sent an actual email on a computer, how the heck am I going to start a blog?

Once I mastered my own mindset, which I achieved through fitness, I was unstoppable.

You see, fitness is something that no one can do for you and no one can take from you. It’s all on you to show up and commit. Once I achieved my fitness goals, it all clicked. I did it, I put in the work, I committed to myself and won. Once you do that, no one else’s opinion matters. You have full confidence to do whatever it is you want to do.

When you are just starting out, my advice is to master your mind first. Listen to podcasts, workout, read motivational books, all those things are what strengthens your mind and get you thinking in an entirely different light. Without a strong mindset, those harsh thoughts will talk you out of starting before you even take your first step.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m a real mom that helps other mom’s feel like themselves again. I provide a safe place to share what you are going through. A friend that is going to hold you to a higher expectation.

We all feel so alone these days, my goal is to make that go away. To be the girlfriend that wants you to succeed, to win, to be the most confident you’ve ever been.

I have accountability groups for women that want to stay on track with their fitness. I do one on one videos with women that want to get more comfortable on camera. I share my at home workouts to show that you can actually get results at home in 24 minutes. I film myself cooking recipes so you can make healthy meals for your family. Most of all, I’m real. In a world where everyone has to be perfect all the time, I show up as me, a hot mess some days and cute as heck the other days. My brand is real, raw and entertaining, whose main focus is to provide value to everyone that comes across it.

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
In the words of a great entrepreneur “jump and the net will appear” – Stefanie Peters. You aren’t going to be perfect, you aren’t going to have the answers, but you will figure it out. Trust me when I say that net appeared as soon as I jumped. People were coming out of nowhere asking how they can help me. People I didn’t even know followed me reached out to lend a hand.

You just have to show up and show them you are willing to work. The rest will take care of itself.
