Meet Anna Show of Bonita

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Show.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
About six years ago, I was studying in a university in Russia. I was studying accounting. I spent my spare time dancing in one of the dance crews. When we attended competitions or shows we had to put a lot of make up on and of course strip lashes. My eyes are sensitive and it was super uncomfortable to use them. That’s when I decided to get individual lashes and they worked! While talking to my eyelash artist I noted that it could be a great opportunity to make some money while I’m studying. I finished eyelash classes and started to do lashes for my friends at home. After I graduated university I started my career in accounting but never gave up to do lashes. I definitely enjoyed doing eyelash extensions more but never believed that it could be a stable full-time job. I moved to US three years ago and the first job I got was an inventory manager in cosmetics retail store. It was most likely accounting position but eventually turned into the great opportunity for me as eyelash artist. After couple months working there I had a conversation with manager and mentioned about eyelash extensions, they were very opened to new ideas and helped me to start providing eyelash extensions service in their store. In about a year I got so many customers that I couldn’t assist all of them by myself so I decided to expand and get my own place. Now I have a great team and ready to go further!

Has it been a smooth road?
It was very challenging when I just started to work in cosmetics store doing eyelash extensions. The company provided me with the place and did some in-store advertising but I didn’t get enough customers to make eyelash extensions a full-time job. And I think that’s a problem for a lot of self-employment eyelash artists. Most of them have another job to make a living. I was trying to get some clients from Facebook posts and referral deals like ‘bring your friend and get discount’ but nothing really worked. Once I got a customer who was a successful esthetician and she changed my point of view. Her idea was very easy: to get something you need to invest in it first. And it’s not only about the money but time. I spent next few months working day and night on building my website, customizing logo, business cards, etc. And it worked! I started to get more and more phone calls.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the UniLash by Anna Show story. Tell us more about the business.
UniLash is a successful growing company which focused on Individual eyelash extensions. We provide Eyelash extensions application for our customers and Eyelash extensions training for those who want to become eyelash artist. Every member of our team is well trained to offer the best service.

What sets us apart from other companies is that we are very customer-oriented. We are trying to give our clients the best experience from the time they click on our website till the time they walk out the studio. We make sure everything is easy and comfortable. Our team is always checking new trends in the industry by attending classes and beauty shows. We make sure we can offer our customers any eyelash extensions they dream about.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are definitely planning to open more locations in nearest future. Right now, the big project is eyelash extensions courses, A lot of eyelash technicians who just finished eyelash extensions classes don’t feel comfortable to provide eyelash extensions service on their own. We want to create a system where our students will have enough skills and knowledge to start their practice right after completing the course.
