Meet Vanessa Campos of Book of Travels

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Campos.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Like most people, I began blogging as a hobby in the beginning of 2018 and has been quite an adventure. It all started when I had a coworker help me with editing some pictures from a while back that I had taken. He asked if I didn’t have more recent pictures that he could edit so that’s when he offered to take pictures and that’s when I decided to create a blog. My passion is traveling, I found that out when I took my first trip to Europe when I was 21. Since then I’ve never stop traveling and that is when I start to get into photography. Every year I plan to go to new destinations and do at least 1 international trip and 2 or 3 national trips. When I see my friends, they go right to the point and ask me ‘Where are you going to next Vanessa?’ I honestly think that is so funny because sometimes I don’t see them for a while and that is just the first thing they say when see me. Or they also mention that they saw my pictures and ask how it was as well as ask me for recommendations. For example, I’ve been to most of all Europe, China, Thailand, Cambodia, Africa, and lived in the UK for 6 months. I love to encourage everyone to travel all the time. I believe it is a great way to invest in yourself, grow, and gain experience in life.

Has it been a smooth road?
There is definitely challenges with whatever project your trying to accomplish. They first thing I realized was a challenge for me is time. I have a full-time job and blogging is also a 24-hour job. Since I work from Monday through Friday I am not able to take pictures during the week, so I must take them on the weekend. I also wake up early to be able to capture nice pictures with nice lighting, so I don’t get much sleep like I use to. My weekends are mostly booked for photoshoots so I don’t really go out as much with friends because I need to wake up early. That has impacted my social life since I don’t really like going out during the week. Moreover, I currently don’t have one permeant photographer, so family members take my pictures, but they also have their personal life so for that reason they are unable to help at times, so I ask friends as well. Another issue I come across is finding the perfect travel buddy that likes to travel and doesn’t mind taking pictures. I invite friends or family members but sometimes they simply can’t go, so them I’m stuck wondering if I should go alone or not. Even though I face these challenges, I find a way to make it all happen. This is something I enjoy doing so it is easier to not give up on what I enjoy.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Vanessa Campos – Book of Travels – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I enjoy being an influencer. I love sharing my travel experiences with everyone to encourage all to go out there and explore. As well as, sharing my fashion style too. I do get asked now and then where I get certain pieces or where I shop, so I decided to share that as well on my blog. I believe that each blogger brings something different to the world because we are all unique. I have a different taste than my friends, so we influence each other to try different things. I am mostly grateful that I get the opportunity to travel as much as I do. My next trip is Mexico City, I try to go as often as I can specially to see family. My international trip is actually going to be in a few months which I am really excited, and it will be Russia for the World Cup 2018. I’ve never been to a world cup before, so this will be a great experience. I believe that these types of events should be in each of our bucket-list. There are a few other trips still pending but everything else is still on my list. If I inspire anyone to go out there and travel more than my job is complete. That is the best feeling for me!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I can’t really complain about San Diego. I believe it’s the best city, we have snow, desert, ocean, and international border all really close. I love calling San Diego my home.
