Meet Wally Dally

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wally Dally.  

Hi Wally, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I started my real estate journey back in 2017 when I purchased a liquor store for my family and I to operate and get in the real estate game! We purchased a small business so we can potentially make a good return on investment in order for us to purchase our first home. Three years later, I decided to sell the liquor store right before the pandemic. I took the proceeds and reinvested them back in real estate but this time it was a 2-bed 2 bath condominium. This was the transaction that sparked my interest in pursuing a career in the real estate industry. I enjoyed every single detail of that transaction. From showings to placing offers to negotiating…just the entire process! My realtor at that time said, “Wally, you have the skills and personality for this job, you definitely need to become a realtor!” I took her advice, took the leap of faith, quit my full-time job, and signed up for the 3 required courses. I met a business coach through Instagram and she connected me with Zandra Ulloa, CEO of Team Z brokered by Active Realty! 

This is the moment where my real journey started! On January 1st of 2021, Zandra called me during the evening and we just clicked right away after that initial phone call! She invited me for an interview the following Monday and after our meeting, I decided to partner up with her as a Junior Agent since I wasn’t licensed. 

I started to show up Monday through Friday as early as 8 am and would sit in the conference room until 6 pm like a fly on the wall. I was literally a sponge for 4 and half months because that’s how long it took for me to get my real estate license. As we were waiting for my test date, I earned the title, of Agent Concierge, which was essentially Zandar’s assistant and that is where I started to learn what a realtor does on the field. She also started to prepare me for what money-making activities I would soon start to do once I became licensed; those activities included: social media posts, cold calling, door knocking, open houses, and all of the other prospecting realtors do on a regular basis. 

It was finally my turn to take the test but I had to fly out to Sacramento because of limited spaces down here in San Diego. Day and night, I would study vocabulary, contracts, real estate laws and regulations, and all the fun stuff in between. In March, during one of my studying sessions, I received an Instagram direct message and this was my first deal! With the help of my team leader, she took on the transaction since I wasn’t licensed yet; however, I received firsthand experience of what the process entails when selling a property; and I got paid my cut when I got licensed! It was a win-win situation for everyone involved! 

In May, I flew out to Sacramento and passed my test on the first try! I came back to my first commission check and that was an awesome feeling! I was learning and grinding for the past 5 months and this was just the beginning of my career! 

I continued to show up to our weekly role-play sessions, participate in conversations at the office, and prospect day in and day out. I got my second deal from Instagram as well and that just proved to me that social media works! When I joined Team Z, I had approximately 800 followers. Today, I have over 2,400 followers and counting! I started to build my pipeline by doing numerous open houses. I found success by doing open houses and definitely engaging on social media consistently; that’s the key right there! 

The ball started to roll from there! I pumped out one transaction after another. At my initial meeting with Zandra, she had asked me how many units I wanted to sell for the year, and I told her 24; averaging 2 per month. At the end of 2021, I was licensed for only 6 and a half months and I had sold 15 units totaling $9.1 million in volume! I was awarded 2021 Rookie of the Year for the brokerage and I was definitely humbled that my hard work and dedication were recognized! 

Goal accomplished, what’s next? 

Before we entered the new year, I was asked at our quarterly meeting how many units and/or volume I wanted to sell for 2022, and my response was 36 units or reach 21$ million in volume; I love to be challenged. 

Fast forward to April of 2022, I have so far sold 12 units totaling $7.8 million! The grind continues! 

My life has definitely changed for the better in so many ways. I am forever grateful that I met Zandra and my agent partners on Team Z because these individuals who I do life with were a true blessing in disguise. Trial and error have taught me how to manage my time better, have better conversations, and overall, have a much clearer mindset. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It absolutely has not been a smooth road; there were times when I started to doubt myself, feel discouraged, and even considered quitting real estate. However, I believe this is my calling to help people build wealth through real estate and that will be done by educating the generations to come! 

I also like to face my challenges because that is how people learn, through failure. Every time I am challenged, I also try to find the solution and if I can’t find it, I ask for help. 

Surrounding myself with people like my agent partners has definitely helped me develop the necessary skills to break through these obstacles.

When Wally Dally isn’t making homeownership dreams come true for his clients, he enjoys working out in the early mornings and endeavoring in new food joints. Wally lives in East County for the last 20 years, so he definitely knows the ins and outs! 

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
People assume I am older by the looks than what I really am and I believe that is because I have worked in so many different roles at such a young age. I am currently 26 years old. 

At 16 years old, I was managing a pizza shop in Imperial Beach. Two years later, I started working in retail and then switched to working at the bank. I left the bank and went to a home furnishing store as a designer for 5 years. At last, before real estate, I worked in the telecommunications industry. So, with that being said, I believe I do have more experience than the average 35-year-old that you know. 

I forgot to mention I am the eldest of my siblings. We are four siblings that have the strongest bond! I do what I do because, at the moment, they are mine why. They are also my biggest supporters when it comes to my business.
