Today we’d like to introduce you to Zack Gitler.
Zack, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I turned 16 growing up in Minneapolis Minnesota I bought, with my own money my 1st set of turntables and everything changed from that day. I became obsessed with becoming a hip-hop DJ so I practiced a lot and spent every penny I made on new records. As the years went on I DJ’d our high school dance and started to do more events. In my later years of high school, I found out one of my friends older brother was a DJ and started to spend more time around him. He actually became Princes go to DJ for any event he had and took him on tour all around the world so my access to amazing music and events was pretty amazing.
I kept Doing in clubs after high school and then went to a 2-year Tech College for Audio Recording. After graduating I moved to California and started a new journey. It wasn’t until 2 years living here I ended up working for a special event company doing event setups. My boss later learned I dj’d and started booking me for weddings and Bar / Bat mitzvahs. At first, I did not want to do these types of events cause it wasn’t my style.
Continuing to do them I became more confirmable and realized I get to be myself, play amazing music for 50-1000’s of people and have a ton of fun doing it! Living here for now 15 years I feel I have built a good name for myself and ZG Productions as one of the top special event dj’s in southern California. Every weekend I have some kind of event I am being a part of whether it be playing music, shooting video or photographing. My wife asks me from time to time how long I will DJ for and I still tell her forever cause I love it!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been some of the bumps in the road from adapting to moving from Minnesota to California, branching out on my own and starting a business.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the ZG Productions story. Tell us more about the business.
ZG Productions provides myself as the DJ/mc and also provides Photo Booths, lighting, video screens, dancers and much more. I have always had a passion for videographers so I do a lot of that from documenting eventing to shooting music videos with the kids from Bar & Bat Mitzvahs.
What set me apart is that I truly love what I do and pay close attention to what my clients are looking for.. I believe that the small things are some of the most important elements to an event and I always go above and beyond to make them happen.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Honestly, I don’t believe in luck and believe everything truly happens for a reason. If something bad happens in my life I always try to convince myself that it is meant to be and I will look back and realize that the bad thing that happened needed to or I wouldn’t be where I’m at today.
