Meet Chastity Heyward

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chastity Heyward.

Hi Chastity, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Like most successful business owners, I started from the bottom. I began my entrepreneurial journey by constantly building and testing ideas. I have always loved to be abreast with educational and business practices and skills, and I focused on developing my skill and services to be the very best in areas that are needed and sought after. That’s pretty much how I started. I kept building.

About how I got to where I am today, I like to think of it as a work in progress. I’m still somewhere in the middle of my journey. I am very big on setting goals and taking steps towards realizing those goals.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If I say it has been a smooth ride, I’d be lying to myself because life is not always rosy. Of course, I have enjoyed a lot of successes, and I have had a fair share of challenging moments as well. The main challenge is with juggling family and business. Running a business is not a walk in the park; you are required to put in long hours of work and be away a lot. But I am big on family, and I always make time for my husband and kids. This has helped clear my mind to make better decisions.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I help people via philanthropic, educational, and professional ventures. My aim is to expand and improve educational opportunities for children. I am a business coach, as well as a franchise owner for Sylvan Learning Center in Murrieta CA, a Forbes council member, an advisory board member for the University of California, a NAWBO Inland Empire board member and a school site council board member on TVUSD.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
The power of mentorship is immense, and it plays an important role in the lives of people aiming to achieve new levels of success. I strongly believe in the power of mentorship. The workplace is constantly changing, and it is at an unprecedented rate. It is important to learn and have insightful conversations with the right mentors so as to remain competitive and achieve your professional and personal growth.

I advise young and ambitious people to get a good mentor that will give them the right motivation they need to sail through uncharted waters in their professional life and help in fine-tuning and transforming their vision into a satisfying reality.

Mentorship and networking in general, give you the opportunity to link up with the right people. Networking can provide access to those willing to invest in your business or offer their skills and expertise.
